Bvlgari Hotel Shanghai

A glamorous urban gem on the Bund
VERIFIED LUXURY

The Roman jewelry brand’s 48-story Bvlgari Hotel Shanghai is a gem, set inside the immaculately restored Shanghai Chamber of Commerce building — complete with a red-brick facade, verandas and imposing columns. Surrounded by lush natural landscaping, the neoclassical-style building sits next to the glittering hotel tower, which affords views of the historic Bund and the neon-lit Pudong skyline in the distance.

Combining the best of Shanghai’s history and modernity, the property serves as a beautifully curated homage to the brand and its Italian legacy, with design details, furnishings and colors that exude glamour. The hotel also has a strong sense of identity, from the Bvlgari imagery found throughout the spaces to bronze accents, matte black granite and Navona travertine — all inspired by the boot country’s architectural aesthetic.

Dressed in a palette of dark woods and neutral monochromes, the 82 rooms and 19 suites are plush and comfortable, with spacious living areas and elegant bathrooms. Elsewhere in the hotel, a lush outdoor rooftop promises one of the most stunning views in Shanghai, while a subterranean spa and fitness center will ensure you can relax after a night out at one of the property’s haute restaurants and bars.

Things to Know

  • The area around Suzhou Creek is artsy and charming, with a quiet atmosphere that you will appreciate in otherwise buzzing Shanghai. The Bund is only a short car ride away, as is the French Concession and several of the city's top attractions.
  • Not all rooms come with the Bund and Pudong as a backdrop, so you’ll have to book accordingly for a river-view room. It’s worth it, as the Shanghai hotel is one of the best locations in town to observe the city from above.
  • Any visit should include a stop at La Terrazza, a wonderful rooftop space with lush greenery and cozy cabanas. Pop by at sunset to watch the city come alive after dark.

The Rooms

  • The bedroom design feels elegant and artistic — expect a palette of cream, amber and velvety merlot offset by teak wood, dark lacquer furniture and cabinetry. The rooms balance Italian and Chinese inspiration, with Chinese-style silk wall art and bronze hardware, accompanied by luxurious Italian linens and Bvlgari cashmere rugs underfoot. Generous living areas flow into the bedrooms, offering plenty of space to lounge, dine or work.
  • The immense marble bathrooms include dual vanities, a makeup mirror, exclusive Bvlgari toiletries and one of our favorite details: a Toto smart toilet.

The concierge is also available via WeChat (China’s most popular messaging app) should you need help on the go.
  • Service is exceptional, with unpacking services, breakfast served anytime, and Berluti shoe shine services, yoga mats, and MOMODESIGN carbon-fiber bikes are all at your disposal. Look forward to turndown service, as staff members leave gifts like Bvlgari luggage tags, mini perfumes and soothing Chinese herbal teas for a restful night’s sleep.
  • Should you need an excuse to upgrade, ask about the hotel’s most opulent accommodation: the namesake Bvlgari Suite. This 4,306-square-foot abode features dramatic double-height ceilings, black oak floors, Italian designer furnishings, crystal chandeliers, a Jacuzzi and its own elevator.
