The St. Regis SPA at The St. Regis on the Bund, Shanghai pays homage to the original Iridium Room at The St. Regis New York, once a private world of spectacle and glamour for the city's aristocrats.

That legacy of exclusivity carries through in the second-floor sanctuary’s design with only three luxurious spa suites, offering guests a fully private domain. Treatments range from facials to body wraps to in-suite massages, coupled with world-class skincare brands and the latest red- and blue-light therapies.

The aesthetic follows the hotel's own design language: iconic patterning from Shanghai's Art Deco era, curved banisters descending into private plunge pools and a palette of marble and gold accents that read as part modern Shanghai, part Roman bathhouse.

Attending masseuses double as butlers, catering to guests' every need, from customized therapy scents to in-suite beverage service.

As a parting touch, guests leave with curated sound cards of music to enjoy at home and mandala coloring books designed to ease anxiety, extending the sense of calm beyond the treatment room.

Our Inspector's Highlights

The spa is uniquely exclusive, with its luxurious, 1,500-square-foot suites appointed with a sauna, Jacuzzi, plunge pool, individual showers, salt-scrub massage facilities, a dressing room, a relaxation room and massage beds. The hot tub and cold plunge pool are infused with essential oils and fragrances designed to aid detox, restoration and smoother skin.
Every treatment in the spa suites comes with a curated refreshment service: low-sugar, low-GI (glycemic index) canapés, fresh fruit, pastries and cookies made specially for guests. Beverages include cucumber and citrus water and a choice of three seasonal teas, each brewed to suit a different stage of the session.
The Shanghai spa showcases two skincare partners: Sothys, an top French brand, and ÉLÉVATIONE, a luxury Israeli line known for its anti-aging formulas. These same products are stocked in the suites for guests to use at their leisure.
A relaxation area furnished with deep massage chairs faces a widescreen TV with programming tailored to guest preference on request. This doubles as a waiting room before and after treatments, where guests can enjoy trolley service refreshments.
Caroline's Collection features three treatments dedicated to Caroline Astor, the matriarch of one of New York's great dynasties. The 400, the collection's signature 2.5-hour treatment, draws inspiration from the Gilded Age of New York high society and includes a full-body scrub, an aromatic body massage and a deep hydration facial with red-light therapy.

Those seeking ultimate restoration will find the Urban Pulse Detox the perfect Zen reset. It opens with a sauna session and a Finnish leaf massage, in which a bundle of birch leaves is used in a brushing and beating motion to stimulate circulation. This is followed by a floatation meditation in the hot pool, accompanied by the resonance of singing bowls and curated music for guided meditation. It culminates in a deep-tissue oil massage that targets pressure points for full-body release.
The 24K Gold Antioxidant Radiance Ritual uses ÉLÉVATIONE's exclusive formulas for an advanced dose of antioxidant protection, finished with a lifting massage and red-light therapy for restored vitality and anti-aging benefits.
The luxury spa conducts traditional Chinese massages that blend ancient techniques with modern skills for deep-tissue massages that promote circulation and target meridian lines.
