Hakkasan Dubai

Authentic Chinese fare with contemporary flair
VERIFIED LUXURY
A cherished favorite in Dubai’s fine-dining scene since its 2011 debut, Hakkasan Dubai at the Forbes Travel Guide Four-Star Atlantis, The Palm consistently delivers all the elements of the perfect dining experience: sumptuous Chinese dishes that combine beautiful presentation with authentic flavors; impeccably polished service; a notable wine selection and creative cocktails; and stylish, sophisticated interiors. This international chain has locations in the U.S., the U.K., Turkey, Spain, Doha and other bustling cities around the globe.

At the Dubai outpost, executive chef Andy Toh draws upon his Chinese heritage and extensive experience in kitchens around Asia to curate elevated dishes that are a modern interpretation of traditional techniques and celebrating them with surprising flavors and masterful textures. He also keeps the menu seasonally fresh by working with homegrown producers and organic farms based in the UAE — and the extra effort is tasted in the exceptional quality of the food.

Our Inspector's Highlights

  • The elegant interiors create a sense of intrigue with a color palette of dark blue and turquoise, dark oak latticed wood screens that offer intimacy, a striking blue sculptural light installation, a blue-lit bar and a chic lounge area for a pre-dinner cocktail. A deep house soundtrack adds to the moody ambience while still allowing conversations at your table.
  • Chef Toh’s culinary artistry and innovation are evident in dishes such as the lobster salad with pear, sweet melon and dragonfruit, lychee lobster that looks like lychees in a pastry basket, and caviar-topped glutinous rice chicken and quinoa crisps.
  • Other recommended dishes include the fresh Alaskan king crab with a black bean and chili sauce; the signature Mongolian beef with a rich peppery sauce, caramelized onion and enoki mushrooms; the classic sweet and sour chicken with pomegranate; and the smoked duck with a kumquat and duck cucumber roll with peanut sauce.
  • Set menus are excellent choices if you want to sample signature dishes such as the stir-fry black pepper rib eye beef, Hakkasan signature Peking duck with pancakes, and grilled black cod with truffle without the stress of completing a full serving.
  • Besides an extensive selection of premium international wines and sake, a roster of creative cocktails — the pistachio-infused Silk Road Margarita and the rhubarb- and cherry-sparked Suawei are great examples — and a solid selection of non-alcoholic drinks make choosing a beverage a fun challenge.

The Food

  • Precise techniques in the kitchen promise the kind of dishes you’ll be craving for long after your meal at Hakkasan. To prepare the jasmine tea-smoked wagyu beef ribs, for example, the beef is slow-braised in spices for four hours, then wok-smoked over jasmine tea leaves to incorporate its subtle flavor into the meat.
  • Dim sum platters are must-order items. The Supreme platter features abalone and chicken, lobster, wagyu beef and Chilean sea bass while the Premium platter also has Hokkaido scallops and king crab dim sums.
  • The grilled Chilean sea bass is prepared from sustainably sourced sea bass and Sidr honey from the mountains in the UAE.
  • Vegetarians are well-catered to with a meat-free dim sum platter (featuring wild mushrooms, cordyceps, pak choi and lotus root) and other plant-based dishes such as sauteed black porcini mushroom with white asparagus, purple cauliflower, beetroot and butternut squash, and Hakka noodle with shimeji and bean sprouts.
  • For dessert, choose the Spikey lemon, where a decadent white chocolate mousse perfectly balances the refreshing tang of yuzu to create a satisfying end to your meal.
