Regent Shanghai on the Bund
Bund-side glamour with incredible views
Here are five things to know about us:
1. We verify luxury. Our highly trained inspectors visit every property we rate, evaluating based on up to 900 objective criteria. Our hotel stays span a minimum of two nights.
2. We pay our own way. No one can buy a rating; all ratings are earned through our objective inspection process.
3. Our global team of inspectors are anonymous at all times, so they have the same experience as a typical guest.
4. While we inspect both service and facility, our Star Rating system emphasizes service because your experience at a hotel, restaurant or spa goes beyond looks — how it makes you feel is what you will remember most.
5. We started in1958 as Mobil Travel Guide, and we created the original Five-Star rating system for hospitality.

At the confluence where Suzhou Creek meets the Huangpu River, Regent Shanghai on The Bund is one of the few properties that can claim a panoramic view this complete. Stretching out in a single vista is the historic Bund promenade, the river's curvature, Lujiazui's towering skyline and the city's west bank. The property sits on a historic address, once the famed Seagull Hotel, home to the former Seamen’s Club and glamorous meeting point for Shanghai’s elite. Regent Shanghai on The Bund opened in 2023, following a reimagining by Cheng Chung Design, with a contemporary aesthetic that fuses tradition with modernity and neo-Chinese elegance. The hotel's interior design takes inspiration from a floral motif, with much of its visual language drawn from novelist and artist Jin Yucheng's "Blossom" art series, in which the magnolia, Shanghai's official flower and a symbol of prosperity, recurs throughout. Floral lacquer work to paintings form an immersive art journey across public spaces and guest rooms.
At just 135 accommodations, including 20 suites, each with a view of either the riverside or the cityscape, the hotel remains an intimate address for a city of Shanghai's scale.
