Hotel das Cataratas, A Belmond Hotel, Iguassu Falls
A touch of elegance in the Brazilian jungle
VERIFIED LUXURY
Here are five things to know about us:
1. We verify luxury. Our highly trained inspectors visit every property we rate, evaluating based on up to 900 objective criteria. Our hotel stays span a minimum of two nights.
2. We pay our own way. No one can buy a rating; all ratings are earned through our objective inspection process.
3. Our global team of inspectors are anonymous at all times, so they have the same experience as a typical guest.
4. While we inspect both service and facility, our Star Rating system emphasizes service because your experience at a hotel, restaurant or spa goes beyond looks — how it makes you feel is what you will remember most.
5. We started in1958 as Mobil Travel Guide, and we created the original Five-Star rating system for hospitality.

These properties deliver an outstanding experience and consistently offer a highly customized level of service.
Four-Star
These are exceptional properties, offering high levels of service and quality of facility to match.

The dashing good looks of Hotel das Cataratas, A Belmond Hotel, Iguassu Falls, an ice-cream pink estate, are trumped only by the breathtaking natural wonder of its setting.
It is the only hotel inside Brazil's Iguacu National Park and from its restaurant terrace you can savor a refreshing caipirinha while watching the sun set behind the cascading froth of Iguassu Falls.
Inside, the marble and dark-wood interior is endlessly elegant; out the back you’ll find pristinely manicured gardens brimming with exotic trees and a brilliant-blue, deep-water swimming pool staffed by pool attendants who seem to know just when you're ready for another fresh coconut water.

Our Inspector's Highlights
While all of the spa’s selection of treatments celebrate the lush beauty around you, the signature Jasy services take things to even greater heights by being thoughtfully crafted to align with each of the moon’s lunar phases, providing a holistic experience that addresses the physical, mental and emotional needs.
- The Iguassu Falls hotel is all about the majestic falls and surrounding national park. At dawn and at dusk, guests of Hotel das Cataratas have the falls all to themselves.
- An excellent in-house travel office can organize safari walks into the rainforest, bird watching, rafting and helicopter rides over the falls.
- Time your trip well and, once a month, Hotel das Cataratas also offers the exclusive chance to witness the rare phenomenon of a lunar rainbow, where the full moon begets a multi-colored arc over the falls.
- More traditional resort activities include tennis, swimming pools and a gym with large picture windows.
Things to Know
- Tourists not staying on the property must leave the park every day, meaning hotel guests can unparalleled access to all of the sites.
- You can walk out to the infamous Devil's Throat lookout platform, surrounded by the spray of the falls, with just the local wildlife for company, plus be back in time for an alfresco cappuccino before the first tourists of the day have even entered the park.
- The spa is an ideal retreat after a sweaty day traipsing through the national park. Inside, the wood-and-marble décor creates a serene ambience illuminated by natural light from the garden windows.
The Rooms
- The 176 rooms ooze traditional Portuguese style and range from Superior Rooms to the Cataratas Suite.
- All feature plush beds, dark rosewood floors and carved furniture, pastel trim, floral curtains and walls punctuated with botanical prints.
- Moorish glazed ceramic tiles lend the bathrooms a light, attractive air.
- The 898-square-foot Cataratas Suite is luxuriously spacious with two bedrooms and bathrooms, a separate living room and views of the jaw-dropping waterfalls from the balcony.
The Restaurants
Restaurant Y (pronounced “Ee”) is a celebration of Brazilian cuisine that brings together ingredients and techniques from different regions of the country.
Y Bar offers stunning views of the falls and remarkable cocktails that honor cachaça and other native spirits and local ingredients.
