Sitting on its own private island, The Ritz-Carlton, Doha makes you forget you’re in the midst of the city with sandy shores and a meandering outdoor pool with a waterfall and swim-up bar. An extensive renovation of its 374 rooms and suites unveiled in 2019 and 2020 breathed new life into The Ritz-Carlton while it still managed to maintain the elements (like its renowned service and warm, welcoming atmosphere) that made it one of Doha’s most-loved luxury hotels. The new-look rooms ooze understated luxury — think muted blues and fresh whites with touches of gold — and start at a spacious 538 square feet and go up to 2,422 square feet.
The refurbishment included adding three new restaurants to its culinary arsenal: a branch of the popular STK steakhouse, pan-Asian hot spot B-Lounge and relaxed French brasserie Sel & Miel. Those combined with the extensive leisure facilities and private beach make The Ritz Carlton, Doha an inviting city oasis.
- The hotel’s four VIP suites are the jewels in the crown. They include the sand-and-sea-inspired Katara Suite (“Katara” is a derivation of the original name for Qatar), which is the only one with an outdoor dining and entertaining area.
- The Ritz Carlton, Doha has one of the most well-equipped leisure centers in Qatar, with two indoor tennis courts; a squash court; indoor, temperature-controlled pools; and an extensive gym with vistas of the private marina.
- The newly renovated spa provides a range of indulgent treatments, including the refreshing Desert Cooler for those who need to escape the heat. The Ritz-Carlton Spa, Doha also has a state-of-the-art Cryosauna, which offers cold therapy.
- In mid-2021, the luxury hotel reopened its refurbished private beach, which has the Doha skyline and The Pearl Qatar as its backdrop. It’s just the place to escape the sweltering city.
- On the 23rd floor of the hotel, the sleek STK has one of the best views in Doha and a menu of steakhouse classics. After dark, it’s one of the most sought-after spots in the city, thanks to an in-house DJ and diverse clientele.
