Our Inspector's Highlights
• The design of the treatment rooms is inspired by Hotel Chinzanso’s ancient Japanese garden — it’s minimalist, tranquil and derived of natural materials.
• The rooms speak to every sense with silk cushions, stone walls, scented candles and fresh pots of Japanese tea. Look out onto the lush, verdant gardens while partaking in one of 40 treatments from the therapy menu.
• Premium products from Elemis, Aromatherapy Associates, Guerlain and the exclusive Japanese brand Euglena are used at Yu in a wide variety of treatments.
• Whether it’s a simple body wrap or indulgent pampering you’re after, Yu can likely meet your spa-going needs — pregnant women, men, couples and older members of the community are all catered to here.
• Yu has its own Guerlain treatment room offering services that are conducted solely by Guerlain’s exceptional therapists who perform beauty lift facials — a surgery-free “facelift.”
Things to Know
• In addition to a full gym, personal trainers are on hand to coach and to stretch you out; those who want to improve their strokes can opt for a personal swimming lesson.
• All of the products are for sale at the spa boutique so you can take a little bit of the luxury spa home with you.
• Exclusive packages are available those who are looking for an extended period of relaxation followed by an opulent afternoon tea.
The Treatments
• The Healing Hot Stone Massage is administered with Aromatherapy Associates essential oils that permeate the room and set the mood for a deeply relaxing spa session.
• Unique deluxe treatments such as the Oriental Scalp service, which relieves tension in the scalp, neck and shoulders, work to leave you refreshed and relaxed.
• Rice body scrubs promote circulation and slough off cells revealing newer, revitalized skin.
• Refreshing foot treatments include a foot bath and an exfoliating scrub so good they can easily put a spring in your step, especially after a long day of exploring Tokyo.
The Facilities
• The magnificent free-form swimming pool has a retractable roof for year-round usage.
• Be sure to try the steaming Japanese onsen bath, which has fresh water delivered weekly from the natural springs of Ito in Shizuoka Prefecture. The water is heated to the correct temperature and poured into a cavernous wooden spa pool.
• You also can luxuriate in the spa lounge after a treatment session wearing the comfortable Japanese robes supplied by the Tokyo spa.
• A spacious fitness center with well-maintained exercise equipment is available to spa and hotel guests.
