Nagomi Spa at Grand Hyatt Tokyo

A zen den in buzzing Tokyo
VERIFIED LUXURY

Hidden away on the fifth floor of Grand Hyatt Tokyo, Nagomi Spa & Fitness is all about harmony and balance. Designed with sophisticated Japanese aesthetics in mind, the urban oasis features natural materials, soothing lighting and warm wood all around.

Upon arrival in timber-clad reception area, you are greeted the traditional Japanese way — with a cup of hot chamomile tea and a warm, scented towel. From there, the experience begins with a visit to the expansive hydrotherapy zones, where you can unwind with a steam session, hot bath and cold plunge before kicking back for a treatment.

When it comes to the pampering, the spa packs its products with locally sourced ingredients to deliver a natural touch.Though rooted in tradition, Nagomi doesn’t shy from innovative beauty technology. The sanctuary was the first in the world to offer Mdna Skin treatments, produced by Madonna in collaboration with MTG, Japan’s leading beauty company.

Exclusive to Nagomi Spa & Fitness at Grand Hyatt Tokyo, the six specialized facials and body treatments use premium ingredients, such as clay and hot spring water from Italy.

Our Inspector's Highlights

  • The Tokyo spa is home to eight luxurious treatment rooms, including one massive suite. Designed for couples, the suite features a Japanese granite stone soaking tub and an in-room steam shower.
  • Not be outdone, the sleek wood-paneled Nagomi Fitness is kitted out with Life Fitness machines, an indoor pool and various functional training tools.
  • Take a tip from ageless Madonna and try her Mdna Skin treatments, available exclusively at Nagomi Spa & Fitness.
  • Find other skincare products from Kerstin Florian, Hommage and a line made specially for Nagomi using traditional Japanese ingredients.

Things to Know

  • The enormous spa and fitness zone stretches across more than 13,993 square feet, including an indulgent relaxation zone.
  • In Japanese culture, tattoos are considered taboo — consider covering up ink with a towel in common areas to be sensitive to local customs.
  • Unlike many Japanese bath houses and spas, Nagomi is only accessible to hotel guests and private members, so there’s no need to worry about crowds.

The Treatments

  • The luxury spa has recruited a top-notch team of nail artists to offer “Nagomi Nails” service — essentially nail art that embraces Japanese designs, inspired by the four seasons.
  • Sore after a long flight? Hot Stretch Management is pretty much what it sounds like — a 60-minute stretch treatment that incorporates yoga poses in a high-temperature environment. Like an extremely relaxed version of hatha yoga, the heat is thought to improve blood circulation and loosen up tight muscles, but be prepared to sweat.
  • For something decadent, the Caviar Facial is an indulgent service that uses protein-rich caviar and powerful antioxidants to firm, tone and hydrateyour skin.
  • Tailored for men, the Hommage signature facial aims to minimize pores and brighten jet-lagged complexions with a mix of exfoliation, massage and relaxing aromatherapy.

The Extras

  • The retreat is fully equipped with hydrotherapy facilities, sauna, steam room, hot baths and cold plunge pools to dip into before or after a treatment.
  • An amber-lit indoor pool is good for lap swimming, while an illuminated Jacuzzi on the pool deck will soothe sore muscles.
  • Active types will appreciate the yoga-friendly open spaces — ask for a mat and practice your downward-facing dog by the pool.
