Mizuki Spa at Conrad Tokyo

An otherworldly Tokyo spa
VERIFIED LUXURY
You’ll find an otherworldly place at Mizuki Spa at Conrad Tokyo, the largest such facility in the city. Taking up the entire 29th floor of the Conrad Tokyo hotel, the 15,000-plus-square-foot spa takes on a lunar theme. Mizuki, which translates to “water” and “moon,” has a circular design, with the coed relaxation room hidden in the center and the 10 treatment rooms off of the circle.

As you enter the spa, you’ll walk on a clear blue carpet that looks like a full moon reflected on the water. But the rest of Mizuki isn’t what you would expect from a moon-inspired retreat. Instead of cold, gray décor, warm woods and stone adorn the treatment rooms for a decidedly Japanese aesthetic. And the view of the neighboring skyscrapers from each room is a reminder that you haven’t left the stratosphere just yet.

Our Inspector's Highlights
  • Our favorite way to bathe at the Tokyo spa is in the Mizuki Room. Designed for couples, the Mizuki Room has side-by-side massage tables and a hinoki cypress tub that can accommodate two.
  • To make the bathing experience even cozier, your aesthetician will leave some steaming-hot green tea on the built-in wood platform right next to the tub.
  • We recommend ending your spa trip with a nap on the chaise lounge in the dimly lit, wood-filled coed relaxation room.
Things to Know
  • Become a spa member and obtain unlimited access to the pool, gym and locker rooms.
  • The gym is open 24 hours a day for hotel guests, but spa visitors are limited to hours between 6 a.m. to 10 p.m.
  • If you need to prep for a night on the town, get a manicure or pedicure (the Executive Hands and Feet mani-pedi combo is a man-friendly option).
The Treatments
  • Facials aren’t known for being calming, but the 80-minute Action Sublime also includes a face, neck, shoulder and arm massage on top of anti-aging treatments.
  • The 80-minute Hydramemory includes a hot-stone facial massage and moisturizes skin that’s parched from flying.
  • If you just made the taxing transatlantic flight into the city, also try the Revitalize massage to banish jet lag (choose between 60 and 90 minutes).
  • The 90-minute Hot Stone Ritual will make your stress fade away with the assistance of some smooth, heated basalt rocks and essential oils.
  • For a calming service, the 90-minute Tranquility Ritual will help you unwind with a full-body hydrating treatment and an aromatherapy facial massage.
The Facilities
  • Public bathing is a part of Japanese culture, but if you aren’t ready to partake in the communal ritual in onsens (Japanese hot springs), Mizuki offers great urban alternatives.
  • In the wet area, instead of one big whirlpool, you’ll see a Jacuzzi with personalized pods that allow you to have a relaxing solitary soak.
  • The bathtub in the Mizuki Room sits right in front of the floor-to-ceiling windows, so you can soak while admiring the surrounding cityscape.
  • For more pampering, head to one of wet or dry saunas. For a more energizing activity, go swimming in the 82-foot-long lap pool.
  • Get a workout on the Technogym equipment or take a class in Pilates, yoga, power circuit, body conditioning or dance in the aerobics room.
