Our Inspector's Highlights
• Like the rest of the spas in this hotel group, the New York location was born out of a sincere understanding and passion for wellness, which we define as a way of life that focuses on physical, emotional and mental wellbeing.
• Guided by Oriental heritage but influenced by local cultural diversity, the spa has created distinctive concepts with a unique sense of place in every location.
• Whether you take a spa day once a week or once a year, The Spa at Mandarin Oriental, New York doesn’t include any of the fussy difficulties normally associated with booking an appointment at an in-demand New York City locale.
• The floor-to-ceiling windows of this 35th floor urban getaway offer city views you can’t resist.
• Even if you don’t want to swim laps in the 75-foot indoor pool, the impressive Hudson River views from this 36th floor lounge are worth a poolside stretch.
Things to Know
• The spa recommends making an appointment at two weeks in advance, but concierge will always do its best to try to accommodate guests based on availability.
• Although you can choose from a variety of treatments, the staff suggests booking a segment of time (90 minutes is best) and let them decide which massage, scrub, body wrap or treatment is best suited for your body.
• We hate to even mention the “c” word, but if your day needs to be cancelled for some reason, it’s not a life or death issue. Just make sure to cancel 24 hours before your appointment time.
• If you want to extend your spa day into an at-home spa night, The Spa at Mandarin Oriental’s Boutique offers a wide range of scents, sounds and oils to choose.
• The pool is only for use by hotel guests.

• Don’t expect a plain old massage at The Spa at Mandarin Oriental, New York — you won’t find anything conventional at this New York getaway.
• Mandarin Oriental’s Signature Spa Therapies will not only make you feel better on the massage table, but they also help keep your body and mind on the right track, once you’re back into the swing of the crazy world.
• Time Rituals are customizable sessions, ranging from nearly two hours to almost three hours, where a therapist tailors a service to the guest’s specific needs.
• In the need of a serious detox? The Clearing Factor combines intensive clearing and detoxifying therapies that will have you feeling ship-shape in no time.
The Facilities
• Make extra time in your day and head to this spa at least one hour before your appointment just to chill out in the Amethyst-Crystal Steam Room. Low-key color lighting and a variety of scents maximize the relaxation quotient in this warm (107 to 114 degrees) atmosphere.
• Give your achy muscles a minute to breathe with a dip in the Mandarin’s Vitality Pools. The water is pumped full of 20 times more oxygen than typical H2O, creating a one-of-a-kind wellness experience that gives your skin a big gulp of air.
• The custom-built Thai yoga studio, filled with rich teak wood and gold leaf detailing, resembles a Buddhist temple.
• You won’t want to leave the VIP Spa Suite, which replicates an oriental home, with a fireplace, dual massage beds, kang (platform) bed and elevated bath.
