Bull & Bear Orlando

Orlando’s reimagined New York steakhouse
VERIFIED LUXURY

While Bull & Bear’s original 1931 New York location may be gone, its legacy endures at Waldorf Astoria Orlando, just 15 minutes from the enchanting gates of Disney’s Magic Kingdom. Much like this luxury hotel offers a serene escape from the Disney buzz, its steakhouse, Bull & Bear Orlando, creates an oasis within an oasis.

The elegant dining experience is everything you’d expect from a Waldorf Astoria. Sporting dark woods, rich fabrics and intricate chandeliers, the atmosphere at Bull & Bear evokes the feel of an exclusive club with views overlooking the hotel’s golf course and pool. Epicureans can look forward to an extensive selection of premium steaks, delectable seafood, shareable cocktails and a surprising crowd favorite: delightfully crisp, perfectly fried chicken.

Our Inspector's Highlights

  • The ambiance captures the spirit of old-school American steakhouses with luxurious details, such as candlelit tables draped in white tablecloths, wood-paneled walls, plush seating and a sultry, backlit bar.
  • The menu kicks off with inventive appetizers, the standout being the Pasta Explosion — tiny housemade ravioli stuffed with pata negra de bellota (acorn-fed Iberico ham) and Parmigiano Reggiano. You’ll also find fresh, bountiful salads — including a Caesar for two prepared tableside — alongside local flavors like the Florida Farms corn soup.
  • Many of Bull & Bear’s most beloved dishes are designed to be shared. Dig into the chateaubriand for two, the namesake carving board—an indulgent combination of dry-aged tomahawk, fried chicken, Maine lobster and two sides— or a sky-high seafood tower piled high with oysters, shrimp, king crab and lobster.
  • Sides and desserts are also a cut above. As one example, “The Baked Potato” gives the starchy root vegetable the royal treatment with caviar, Iberico ham, sour cream and gold leaf. Meanwhile, the Orlando restaurant’s signature dessert, “The Lemon,” resembles a plump Meyer lemon, filled with Chantilly cream, sorbet and lemon curd.
  • If you’re keen to try one of the shareable cocktails, go for the Smoking Bull — a modern take on an old fashioned. Serving four, this heady mix of bourbon, vermouth and vanilla pepper syrup is smoked and served tableside in a gorgeous decanter.

Things to Know

  • Dating back to the 1930s, the original Bull & Bear was at Lexington and 49th inside Waldorf Astoria New York. Named after stock exchange trends, the renowned Manhattan restaurant closed in 2017 and now lives on in the Sunshine State.
  • Bull & Bear’s Florida outpost opened in 2009 at the same time as Waldorf Astoria Orlando. Back then, it was the only location outside Manhattan, though the restaurant has since expanded to Waldorf Astoria Dubai International Financial Centre and Waldorf Astoria Bangkok
  • The Orlando steakhouse, which is open for dinner only, is one of the area’s most sought-after restaurants, so we’d recommend making reservations at least two weeks in advance.
  • The fine-dining experience calls for equally sophisticated ensembles. Bull & Bear’s official dress code discourages shorts, hats, flip flops and the like, so for men, we’d suggest a long-sleeve, button down and closed shoes at a minimum.
  • For special celebrations or work gatherings, the restaurant offers an elegant private dining room that can host up to two dozen people.
