Napa Rose

The Happiest Place on Earth's most elegant meal
VERIFIED LUXURY

When Napa Rose, the upscale restaurant tucked inside Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa in Anaheim, opened in 2001 alongside the craftsman-themed hotel and Disney’s California Adventure, it was the most sophisticated culinary experience one could have in the Magic Kingdom without a membership. After undergoing an extensive 10-month renovation and menu overhaul to commemorate its silver anniversary in 2026, it still is.

In fact, like most of the 13,000 bottles on display and in the wine cellar, Napa Rose gets better with age. Although its design still leans Arts and Crafts with wood paneling, handmade tiles, unique fireplaces and exposed beams and brackets, the revamped spaces are darker, moodier and, surprisingly, sultrier. Out are the white tablecloths and colorful carpet and murals; in are layered textures, tactile ceramic serving vessels, earth tones and the most charming vintage botanical print wallpaper.

The culinary concept is essentially the same — wine country cuisine inspired by the season and California’s enviable bounty served with signature Disney smiles. From the first sip of a mushroom cappuccino amuse bouche to the last bite of a decadent Valrhona chocolate bar dessert, this fine dining feast will make you forget you’re merely steps from roller coasters and Mickey Mouse meet-and-greets.

Our Inspector's Highlights

  • No eater is left behind. Vegetarians and vegans have start-to-finish menus featuring flavorful dishes like oak-roasted forest mushrooms and miso cabbage scallion crepes with green falafel. The Anaheim restaurant also can accommodate gluten, dairy and shellfish allergies. There’s even an elevated kid’s menu.
  • Slide up to the 18-seat chef’s counter, where you can peer into the lively open kitchen while savoring shrimp flutes, and the staff will personalize the menu even further. Even if you don’t opt for counter service, spend some time at the pass watching the symphony of flickering flames, sharp knives, tweezers, caviar tins and teapots full of cockle broth churn out precisely plated masterpieces.
  • Like the theme park next door, the innovative cocktail program is a love letter to the Golden State. Each tipple is named after and inspired by a popular stop on a California road trip. East of Furnace Creek captures Death Valley’s crisp mornings and violet sunrises with gin and butterfly pea flower while Fruit Stand Off Highway 1 is brimming with macerated strawberries and wildflower honey. Ojai Campfire, with its cacao-infused vodka, graham cracker dust and toasted marshmallow espuma evoking s’mores, could easily sub for dessert.
  • Be sure to add the wine pairing. As expected, the pours are heavy with California vintners, but the world’s winemakers also make significant appearances on the 1,500-label list. If you’re a wine novice, there are plenty of experts here to walk you through a decision. Even if the wine director is giving tasting notes to other guests, every table captain has level-1 sommelier certification.
  • Subtle design details — art made of retro corkscrews, hearth tiles imprinted with grape leaves, banded wood columns that bring wine barrels to mind and a dangling chandelier modeled after Mission grapevines, California’s original wine grape variety — drive home the Napa Valley sense of place in a big way. Together with the sustainably sourced seafood, like Santa Barbara uni, produce in peak ripeness, locally made cheese and glasses full of bold cabernet, the overall effect will leave you feeling like you’ve come down from a long day of tasting on Howell Mountain, especially if you plant yourself in front of the massive fireplace on the cozy patio.

Things to Know

  • A four-course prix fixe menu (with a bonus sweet parting nibble) is served in the main dining room, at the chef’s counter and on the expanded terrace. Prefer to dine à la carte or just looking for a nightcap and bites? The bar/lounge, with its lobster tamales and bone marrow custard, is your only option.

  • Reservations are highly recommended and can be booked up to 60 days in advance through Disneyland.com and the Disney app. Same-day reservations are limited and subject to availability within the 226-seat space. Walk-ins are accommodated in the lounge as space allows.
  • The dress code for Napa Rose is smart casual. No hats, swimwear, tank tops, cut-offs or distressed jeans are permitted.
