When Napa Rose, the upscale restaurant tucked inside Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa in Anaheim, opened in 2001 alongside the craftsman-themed hotel and Disney’s California Adventure, it was the most sophisticated culinary experience one could have in the Magic Kingdom without a membership. After undergoing an extensive 10-month renovation and menu overhaul to commemorate its silver anniversary in 2026, it still is.
In fact, like most of the 13,000 bottles on display and in the wine cellar, Napa Rose gets better with age. Although its design still leans Arts and Crafts with wood paneling, handmade tiles, unique fireplaces and exposed beams and brackets, the revamped spaces are darker, moodier and, surprisingly, sultrier. Out are the white tablecloths and colorful carpet and murals; in are layered textures, tactile ceramic serving vessels, earth tones and the most charming vintage botanical print wallpaper.
The culinary concept is essentially the same — wine country cuisine inspired by the season and California’s enviable bounty served with signature Disney smiles. From the first sip of a mushroom cappuccino amuse bouche to the last bite of a decadent Valrhona chocolate bar dessert, this fine dining feast will make you forget you’re merely steps from roller coasters and Mickey Mouse meet-and-greets.
A four-course prix fixe menu (with a bonus sweet parting nibble) is served in the main dining room, at the chef’s counter and on the expanded terrace. Prefer to dine à la carte or just looking for a nightcap and bites? The bar/lounge, with its lobster tamales and bone marrow custard, is your only option.
