Mizumi at Wynn Las Vegas

Innovative Japanese dining in a lush courtyard
VERIFIED LUXURY
Mizumi (it’s a popular female name in Japan) is easily one of the prettiest restaurants at the vibrant Wynn Las Vegas. With a buzzing sushi bar, table demonstrations and quiet, romantic tables overlooking a waterfall, Mizumi offers something for every taste.

You feel as if you've left the desert and landed in Japan — you can even book the floating pagoda table for a little Zen meditation with your sushi. Rising star chef Devin Hashimoto has created an extensive menu that demands a slow read; perhaps you’re in the mood for sushi, sashimi and sake before going to a show, or maybe you want to make a multi-course night of it — from miso soup to green-tea ice cream.

The restaurant has two rooms, a main dining room and a room that features open robatayaki and teppanyaki grills, plus a sushi bar. The main dining room has a view of the artfully illuminated Tryst lagoon.

Our Inspector's Highlights
  • The menu at Mizumi aims to satisfy a wide range of tastes for Japanese food. In fact, the menu is so expansive that even those well-versed in Japanese cuisine might find something new to try.
  • Parties of two can enjoy a quiet table in the back by the lagoon, which is a lovely place for a date or a special anniversary. On warmer nights, the large patio doors are open and diners can enjoy the soft desert breezes while gazing at the rushing waterfall.
  • Diners at Mizumi can count on top-notch professional service.
  • Mizumi is the perfect spot for vegetarians to enjoy an extensive menu of appetizers and main dishes for every palate. Several of the classic rolls are vegan, including the cucumber roll, pickle roll and vegetable roll. The miso soup is made with tofu and there are several Japanese noodle dishes that fit the bill, including udon noodles served with Japanese mushrooms, scallions and mitsuba leaves in a soy soup.
Things to Know
  • Mizumi at Wynn Las Vegas is an excellent choice for group dining because the menu is conducive to ordering many dishes and sharing. The restaurant has an experienced waitstaff that can help larger groups navigate their choices.
  • The atmosphere is trendy, comfortable and a place to be seen in Vegas, which might appeal to larger groups of out-of-town guests wanting to experience a restaurant that will also be a memorable part of your vacation.
The Food
  • Chef Devin Hashimoto offers everything from your basic hot plates — including 72-hour braised American wagyu short ribs served with roasted eggplant puree, baby corn, summer squash and mushrooms — to seafood inaniwa pasta packed with scallops, king crab, octopus, roasted tomatoes, lime and uni butter sauce.
  • The teppanyaki menu includes mixed greens, tofu salad and miso soup to start followed by entrees including Maya shrimp, Maine diver scallops, Chilean sea bass, 2.5-pound Maine lobster and Angus beef tenderloin.
  • Some of our favorite dishes are the baked sweet miso-marinated black cod—a substantial piece of fish served with stuffed baby eggplant, sumiso sauce and pickled ginger; the angus beef sirloin and black truffle teriyaki—sizzling meat drenched in truffle teriyaki, flanked by green beans, baby corn, maitake mushrooms and baby carrots; and the shrimp and vegetable tempura.
The Look
  • Roger Thomas designed the stunning interior of Mizumi to reflect the sophistication and edge of Japan’s modern urban cities.
  • With vibrant, crimson, contemporary interiors, the restaurant was designed to transport guests from Vegas to the Far East. One of the highlights is a private Japanese garden in the back with a coursing waterfall and a floating pagoda.
  • Inside, the eye-catching red and gold walls are lined with traditional Noh theater masks and hand-painted Japanese fans along with obi sashes to reflect iconic Japanese design themes.
