Elevated Italian gastronomy overlooking Victoria Harbour
VERIFIED LUXURY

With floor-to-ceiling windows framing Hong Kong’s Victoria Harbour, Cucina welcomes you into a chic dining room with striking views and doting service.

Located on the sixth floor of Marco Polo Hongkong Hotel in Tsim Sha Tsui, the warm and inviting eatery specializes in elevated Italian gastronomy with an emphasis on produce from the Piedmont region, famed for its slow-food movement, white truffles and diverse wines.

As a Piedmont native, chef de cuisine Andrea Delzanno has created an authentic menu that marries centuries-old Italian traditions with meticulous execution, plus a few modern touches for good measure. From creamy burrata cheese to the chef’s signature linguine with Sicilian red prawns, every plate is beautifully balanced and full of fresh flavors. These elevated bites are only accentuated by expert wine pairings from sommelier Raymond Lo.

Our Inspector's Highlights

  • This is authentic Italian dining at its best. Piedmont-born Delzanno celebrates age-old traditions and fresh ingredients across every dish, from Piedmont specialties to ultra-fresh burrata from Puglia.
  • Meaning “kitchen” in Italian, Cucina is conveniently located just steps from the popular Star Ferry Pier within Harbour City mall.
  • The Hong Kong restaurant’s harbor views impress, especially after dark, when the skyline comes alive during the nightly Symphony of Lights spectacle at 8. A spacious terrace is especially in demand during the city’s drier and cooler months from September to May.
  • The wine selection is just as enticing as the food, with a 13-page-long list of bottles from around the world that emphasizes Italian producers.
  • Cucina’s flavor spectrum ranges from light and fresh to rich and decadent — a true testament to the complexity and diversity of Italian cuisine. Plates are both beautifully presented and full of soul, thanks to chef Delzanno’s upbringing and extensive training.

Things to Know

  • If you’re a truffle fan, we’d recommend visiting during white truffle season from October to January to indulge in the special menu.
  • The Tsim Sha Tsui restaurant is open daily for lunch and dinner, as well as weekend brunch, afternoon tea, happy hour and after-dinner drinks.
  • The dress code at Cucina is smart casual.
  • For the best harbor views, reserve one of the tables at the far back corner of the dining room or sit on the terrace.

The Food

  • Cucina’s menu takes you on a journey through Italy, elevating traditional recipes with premium adaptations. For instance, crabmeat salad sees an upgrade with caviar, pan-seared duck liver is paired with fruit compote, and grilled Mediterranean octopus arrives with plump scallops from Hokkaido.
  • The menu is full of memorable bites, including several not-to-miss signatures such as slow-cooked wagyu beef cheek with pumpkin purée in Barolo sauce; linguine with Sicilian red prawns and a satisfying tomato sauce; and burrata with Parma ham.
  • Other indulgent highlights include smoked gold salmon loin with Oscietra caviar, black truffle and dill sauce; delicious lobster bisque with crème fraîche; and Taiyouran scrambled eggs with toast and seared Hokkaido scallops under a blanket of white truffle.
  • Vegetarians won’t go hungry at Cucina. In addition to a strong selection of leafy green side dishes, the Hong Kong restaurant serves up several tasty meat-free options, such as penne with black truffle cream sauce, traditional Italian minestrone soup and the namesake Cucina salad with Inca tomatoes, beetroot, mozzarella and white balsamic dressing.
  • For dessert, choose from an array of delicacies — the crème brûlée and pink tiramisu are known crowd-pleasers.

The Look

  • While Cucina has a friendly, convivial atmosphere, it’s far from a casual trattoria. Instead of white-and-red checkered tablecloths, expect sleek wooden tables and excellent, anticipatory service.
  • The design pays homage to Hong Kong by incorporating subtle Chinese-inspired elements, such as black latticed accent walls and dark wood paneling offset by olive-green chairs.
  • There are several different seating styles, from a bustling bar to a casual terrace to intimate tables for a more fine-dining experience on the far side of the dining room.
  • An open kitchen anchors the Italian restaurant where you can watch the chefs make pasta — like lasagna or gnocchi — from scratch.
