VERIFIED LUXURY
Here are five things to know about us:
1. We verify luxury. Our highly trained inspectors visit every property we rate, evaluating based on up to 900 objective criteria. Our hotel stays span a minimum of two nights.
2. We pay our own way. No one can buy a rating; all ratings are earned through our objective inspection process.
3. Our global team of inspectors are anonymous at all times, so they have the same experience as a typical guest.
4. While we inspect both service and facility, our Star Rating system emphasizes service because your experience at a hotel, restaurant or spa goes beyond looks — how it makes you feel is what you will remember most.
5. We started in1958 as Mobil Travel Guide, and we created the original Five-Star rating system for hospitality.

There are many reasons to dine at Shanghai Terrace inside Forbes Travel Guide Five-Star
The Peninsula Chicago, from the menu with its emphasis on meticulous dim sum creations, to the elegantly appointed dining room with its black lacquer chairs and classic Shanghai-inspired decor.
But the biggest draw is the actual terrace that gives the restaurant its name, with stunning views of the skyscrapers that surround the hotel. The fourth-floor alfresco area provides the perfect place to sample everything from traditional Peking duck to creative foie gras and lobster dim sum.
During the spring and summer, when the terrace is open, you’re in for an eyeful: The tables are set back from the wall so that you have a postcard-ready sight of Magnificent Mile’s glittering lights and a glimpse of Lake Michigan. Sit on one of the couches, which are enshrouded by canopies of colorful flowers, with your cocktail and admire the view.
Add that visage with the innovative takes on traditional Cantonese fare prepared by chef de cuisine Elmo Han, and you have a dinner spot unlike anything else in the
Windy City.
