PONANT Le Lapérouse

An adventure pioneer
VERIFIED LUXURY
Le Lapérouse made major waves when it debuted in 2018 as the first of PONANT’s Explorer-class expedition vessels. The intimate 184-passenger ship’s reinforced hull for polar exploration and fleet of Zodiacs made it ideal for itineraries in far-flung places, like the Seychelles, Iceland and New Zealand.

The underwater, Jacques Cousteau-inspired Blue Eye lounge; photography studio for budding wildlife photographers; and water sports marina also give shape to the ship's adventurous spirit.

But Le Lapérouse also delivers luxurious amenities, including a dining program managed by chef Alain Ducasse’s catering company and airy, elegant interiors, filled with natural light and pale wood. Additionally, all 92 thoughtfully appointed staterooms and suites include private terraces, seamlessly integrating the ship's two primary pillars: exploration and comfort.

Our Inspector's Highlights

  • Design elements throughout the ship create a bright ambiance. There are white leather panels on closets, light wood and glass-enclosed showers in the staterooms, along with sleek lines, abundant natural light and a spacious Scandinavian feel in the common areas.
  • No matter if the itinerary takes you to Antarctica, Iceland, the Mediterranean or the Caribbean, Le Lapérouse curates unforgettable adventures, thanks to the knowledgeable guides, access to remote ports, a reinforced hull for polar waters and a fleet of Zodiacs.
  • The underwater Blue Eye lounge has curved lines and windows that resemble a whale's skeleton and eyes, imbuing the space with whimsy. You can spot marine animals there, and it’s equipped with hydrophones that can capture ocean sounds from up to three miles away.
  • Dining aboard the ship embraces French touches, including menus designed in collaboration with the world-renowned chef Alain Ducasse’s catering company, along with Ladurée macarons, Lenôtre pastries and Veuve Clicquot champagne.
  • Features such as a spa in conjunction with Sothys and Davines, a spacious Finnish sauna with panoramic ocean views and a heated seawater infinity pool provide restorative spaces for passengers to recharge amid the action-packed itinerary.

The Staterooms

  • All staterooms and suites come with king beds dressed in soft linens, Nespresso coffeemakers, a minibar stocked to order, Bose Bluetooth speakers and Diptyque bath products.
  • The ship’s 55 suites boast upgraded amenities, including walk-in closets, butler service and more expansive verandas.
  • The staterooms measure 205 square feet. Suites are more spacious, ranging from 291 to 484 square feet.
  • The most luxurious offering is the Owner’s Suite, located at the aft of the ship. Its 430-square-foot terrace includes a private hot tub, and it piles on perks like one-hour spa treatments and a private return transfer.
  • In the 484-square-foot Grand Suites, you will find separate living and sleeping areas, wood-lined bathrooms with tubs overlooking the water through big-picture windows and 344-square-foot balconies with dining tables.
