Four Seasons Resort The Nam Hai, Hoi An

An all-villa oasis in Hoi An
VERIFIED LUXURY

Located between the bustling city of Da Nang and the lantern-lined town of Hoi An, Four Seasons Resort The Nam Hai, Hoi An is an idyllic sanctuary on a pristine white sand beach.

You’ll be welcomed in with lush landscaping — soaring coconut palms, fragrant frangipani trees and vibrant spider lilies — that immediately imparts a sense of tranquility and seclusion. From there, it only gets better with a striking lobby that resembles a temple, dramatic tiers of cascading infinity pools, spacious sumptuous villas and a serene spa situated around a koi- and lotus-filled lagoon.

While the hotel originally opened in 2006, it really came into its own when Four Seasons took over the property a decade later. The acquisition resulted in a more enriching experience, offering a multitude of activities that can be enjoyed on and off the resort grounds, whether you’re searching for a seaside vacation or an immersive adventure.

Our Inspector's Highlights

  • Three tiers of cascading infinity pools serve as the resort’s most iconic feature. The first is heated and kid-friendly; the second is built for laps; and the third is adults-only and just a few steps away from the beach.
  • The spa is a blissful oasis with eight floating treatment suites that have indoor-outdoor decks separate from the massage rooms. Schedule your appointment in the evening so that you can jump straight into the nightly Goodnight Kiss to the Earth ritual that involves crystal singing bowls, music and flickering lanterns.
  • For a hands-on dive into local culture, opt for a lesson at the Nam Hai Cooking Academy. You’ll visit the property’s garden, partake in an off-site excursion, enjoy a class in a state-of-the-art kitchen and dig into a Vietnamese lunch starring your own creations.
  • Every accommodation is a luxurious villa complete with its own garden, an outdoor rain shower, a bedside bathtub and a spacious patio with a daybed.
  • There are two bars and two restaurants on the property, but a rotating schedule of themed dinners (like lobster night and street food) keep things exciting.

Things to Know

  • Shuttles to Hoi An are provided throughout the day — take advantage of this and explore the well-preserved Ancient Town.
  • A kids club keeps tiny travelers entertained all day long, but make sure to also bring your children to the cooking academy every afternoon for a complimentary class.
  • The grounds were formerly a fisherman’s village; as a result, there’s a preserved shrine at one corner of the property. If you’re staying during Tet (Lunar New Year), mingle with the locals who are invited by the resort for a festive celebration.

The Rooms

  • All 100 accommodations in the Hoi An hotel are light-filled villas with expansive living spaces, furnished terraces and an outdoor shower.
  • Entry-level one-bedroom villas are centered on a raised platform encircled with diaphanous silk where you’ll find a bed, seating area and sunken bathtub.
  • Pool villas start at more than 2,600 square feet and have a private courtyard entrance, heated pool, separate living space and butler service.
  • The Nam Hai’s villa design gleans inspiration from nha vuon, or Central Vietnamese garden homes, with timber frames and pitched roofs covered with flat tiles. The spaces also incorporate elements of phong thuy, Vietnamese feng shui.

The Restaurants

  • Breakfast at Cafe Nam Hai includes an assortment of Western and Asian offerings, but it’s the live stations that serve up local specialties like cao lau (rice noodles, pork and greens) that you’ll want to try.
  • Lá Sen dishes out delicious contemporary interpretations of Vietnamese classics in the afternoons and evenings. Situated next to the property’s iconic pool, the seaside restaurant provides views as picturesque as its plates.
  • Be sure to dine at Lá Sen on Thursdays to indulge in the weekly street food-themed menu. From a whole suckling pig to steamed buns and fragrant pho, local comfort favorites are served up in an elevated way.
  • To switch things up at dinner, head over to Cafe Nam Hai for Indian specialties, like a spicy lamb-leg curry.
  • For Vietnamese bites and creative cocktails without sacrificing sea vistas, imbibe at the luxury hotel’s casual Beach Bar. Plush chairs with plenty of pillows ensure that you’ll have sand between your toes, but not in your suit.
