Hotel Excelsior Venice Lido Resort

Cinematic glamour on the beach
VERIFIED LUXURY
Hotel Excelsior Venezia is pure cinematic glamour. Opened in 1908 on the Lido, a barrier island off of Venice, this Moorish-inspired luxury hotel boasts La Serenissima’s only beachfront property and is a favorite escape for silver screen divas. With 196 rooms and suites, the hotel pairs grand historic architecture with effortless elegance, all while offering sweeping views of the Adriatic Sea and the Venetian Lagoon. Its ornate arches, exotic detailing and Belle Époque charm make every corner feel like a movie set.

Lido is best known as the home of the Venice Film Festival, launched in 1932, where the Excelsior Hotel still steals the spotlight as the stars’ favorite haunt. But where it really shines is any day in the summer, when getting away from the hordes tracking through the city is paramount. Fifteen minutes by water taxi from Venice, the stunning property is a luxurious oasis of Old World glamour.

Our Inspector's Highlights

  • Every room offers a view, whether of the lagoon or the hotel’s Alhambra-inspired courtyards. The newly renovated Premium Junior Suites are styled in seafoam, cotton-candy pink and ivory, blending Venetian details like etched mirrors with Moorish arches and soft, sculptural furnishings.
  • You don’t need to leave the Excelsior at all. The dining options cover every flavor and vibe. For elegant, locally focused fine dining, head to Adriatico Terrace, where seasonal ingredients shine. Don’t miss the Intensità di Carciofo, featuring the rare white artichoke of Pertosa.
  • For a more casual vibe, Elimar Beach Bar is a guest favorite. Set right on the sand, Elimar serves from breakfast (eggs Benedict) through dinner with Venetian-inspired dishes like sarde in saor (sweet-and-sour sardines).

Each summer, the hotel hosts its exclusive Sports Academy, featuring master classes led by elite athletes Past highlights include chess, capoeira and paddleboard yoga.
  • Excelsior’s white-glove service and incredible amenities are reminders that you don’t need to stay on Venice, but you will most likely want to visit, so the luxury hotel offers free water taxi transfers to the floating city.
