Four Seasons Resort and Residences Vail

Easygoing elegance in Vail
VERIFIED LUXURY
Throughout Four Seasons Resort and Residences Vail, natural elements grace every wall, ceiling and floor, a signature style of the brand and one embraced by interior decorator Brayton Hughes.

The resort has an easy elegance that makes it feel like it has been around for a long time. Perhaps it’s because of its classic alpine-lodge style, natural hickory wood accents and warm limestone that adorn the floor, walls, furniture and fireplaces. Or maybe it’s the palette of comforting browns, beiges, reds and golds. Either way, you never would think this property was freshly built in 2010.

But you won’t notice these the first time you walk into the mountain hotel. Instead, the sheer size of the property will capture your attention. The open bar and large window showcasing Vail Mountain when you enter feel inviting and roomy, the hallways are wide and airy and the maze of stairways seems almost M.C. Escher-esque in its never-ending possibilities.

Our Inspector's Highlights
  • After a long day of skiing, the Vail River Stone Massage at the Five-Star spa comes highly recommended. It uses evergreen essential oil, which makes you feel like you are still zipping through the forest.
  • At the end of the day, enjoy a dip in the heated pool or soak outside in one of the two hot tubs. Or opt to shed your suit in the privacy of the women's or men's hot tub, sauna and steam room at the spa.
  • The ski concierge can do everything from arrange equipment rentals and lessons, to provide maps and weather conditions.
  • When you check into the hotel, a boot fitter will take measurements and preferences and send them to the ski concierge so that your warmed boots and waxed skis will be ready and waiting.
  • Getting ready for a day on the slopes doesn’t get much easier than this. A heated path takes you from the hotel to a three-story building at the base of Gondola One, which houses the ski concierge.
Things to Know
  • Hotel guests have a great perk at the Forbes Travel Guide Five-Star spa: you can take advantage of the facilities even if you don't get a treatment.
  • A unique offering of the spa is found in its Brew and Renew section, a trio of services that utilize the healing properties of beer and the convenience of heated cans to massage, soak and exfoliate. The best part is, you get to indulge in a local craft beer while tension is rubbed away.
  • If you came to Vail without gear, a Gorsuch store also can be found here. Simply head in, get fitted, maybe pick up a down vest or cashmere sweater, and then have all your goods sent to a locker at the base of the mountain.
The Rooms
  • No matter which room you go for, it will prove plenty spacious. In fact, the Four Seasons’ 575-square-foot standard room is the largest of its kind in Vail Valley.
  • Each earth-hued space comes with a leather-lined desk, stone fireplace, hickory wood vestibule, 42-inch flat-screen television and an oversized leather chair and ottoman.
  • Luxurious limestone bathrooms come equipped with a stand-alone soaking tub, a double sink, a glass-enclosed shower and L'Occitane bath products.
  • Almost every room has a balcony complete with chairs and a table, which is a nice amenity —especially with a view of the snow-covered mountain brimming with skiers in front of you.
  • There are 97 guest rooms and 24 suites available, and the latter come with the above amenities plus day beds to lounge on, a separate living room with couches and chairs, a spacious dining room, a half bath and a pantry where you can have the resort's chef come and serve you a meal.
The Restaurants
  • Head to The remedy Bar and grab a table in front of the 165-inch television, the largest in the whole valley. Then, order a craft cocktail, an elevated bar snack or maybe a pizza with house-made buffalo pepperoni.
  • For something more substantial, dine on superb American fare at the property's modern steakhouse, Flame. Signature steaks and seasonal veggies (think Eagle Springs iceberg wedge with cabernet-pickled onions and maple-candied bacon) are always good here.
  • Flame also offers breakfast, a spread that includes build-your-own omelets and parfaits, Dutch baby pancakes, fresh pastries and smoked salmon with bagels and cream cheese.
  • During the winter, Four Seasons Resort Vail also opens the coffee shop Bean & Gone, a good place for a morning pick-me-up or afternoon hot chocolate.
