Our Inspector's Highlights
- Fitness enthusiasts will not want for activities here between the four clay tennis courts, a Pilates studio, outdoor yoga sala and fitness center. On the beach, you’ll find everything you need for an aquatic adventure: kayaks, sailboats, paddleboards, sailing catamarans and gear for snorkeling.
- After a soak in the sun, guests can head to the spa pavilion for a variety of treatments including massages, wraps, scrubs, and facials.
- Those looking to connect with the natural surroundings can learn more about them at the resort’s Nature Discovery Center (book a hike to explore the island on foot with an expert). Or visit the southeast end of the island’s stable to ride the friendly horses.
- Should the tropical weather hinder outdoor excursions, you can head to the library, which is stocked with games and books galore, or head to the screening room for a movie any night of the week, popcorn included.
- The landscaping, including the large central reflecting pool, the 164-foot black volcanic rock infinity-edge pool and the lush vegetation, play up the clean-lined Asian-inspired architecture.
The Rooms
- The 36 stand-alone timber-shingled pavilions are enclosed by three glass walls, while the 20 villas each sit on one-and-a-half acres each.
- All guest quarters are minimally decorated in creams and taupes and feature dramatic platform beds, and views of reflecting ponds, gardens or the ocean.
- Pavilion bathrooms come with rain showers, large dual vanities and a free-standing bathtubs. Outdoor areas include ample amounts of teak decking with tables and chairs.
- Villas are nothing short of extravagant with three to five separate bedroom pavilions, private swimming pools, some with outdoor showers, and ample room (about 12,000 square feet of indoor/outdoor space) to lounge around.
The Restaurants
- The main restaurant at the luxury hotel is open to the ocean with alfresco seating beneath large mahogany trees, and an indoor air-conditioned section (both have sweeping views of the sea).
- Expect both Asian and Mediterranean dishes, with plenty of fresh seafood options.
- Amanyara's large bar is ideal for dining throughout the day (hello, oversized daybeds) and drinking cocktails such as the Amanyara Mojito served with a splash of champagne.
- The range of rums on hand is impressive, some house-infused with local fruits. Bonus: There’s also a seaside eatery serving casual beach fare.
