Ett Hem combines three early-20th-century townhouses to make a unique, personalized hotel in the middle of central Stockholm. The hotel’s 22 rooms and suites and living room-like shared spaces seem homey, intimate and special.
In fact, hotel owner Jeanette Mix selected the name, Ett Hem, which translates to "at home," in her native Swedish. It’s how Mix hoped staff and guests would feel while staying here. British designer Ilse Crawford of Studioilse oversaw the hotel’s interior, mingling a stylish yet timeless look with a Swedish ambiance. Here, you will find a low-key relaxation room, an updated gym with a yoga studio, a plush sitting area and a winding patio, all of which exude comfort and elegance.

- In each room, the blend of contemporary and vintage textiles adds to the sophisticated décor. Expect natural wood, leather, wicker and velvet, all in rich hues of gold, brown and cream.
- The patio melds the comfort of home with art, natural greenery and city-chic aesthetics. Sit back with a coffee, pastry, smorgasbord or glass of wine.
- Meals feel like you’re having dinner in the kitchen of a loved one, and in some cases, service is held in the actual kitchen of the townhouse. There are other spots where you can dine, too, from a dining room to outside in the garden to your own abode. The chefs work to create each meal with local ingredients — including maturing their own sobrasada sausage — and in the summer, growing much of the produce and herbs used onsite.
- Dip into a large stone or porcelain bathtub in many of the suites. The standalone vessel is an inviting place to unwind.
- Find unique touches all around the Stockholm hotel — everything from one-of-a-kind works of art, handmade pottery and funky-yet-pleasing textiles. Every guest room and common space is distinct.

- The Nordic Museum (Nordiska Museet) should be on every visitor's list, and it's just a quick six-minute drive from the hotel. A stunning historic building houses the museum, and inside, you will find both contemporary perspectives of Swedish culture alongside deep dives into the country's rich history.
- Take the six-minute trip to Kungsträdgården, or the King's Garden, a vast park with cafés, art galleries and restaurants. It hosts concerts in the summer and ice skating in the winter.
- For a whimsical addition to your itinerary, visit Gröna Lund, or Grönan, an amusement park on the seaward side of Djurgården Island. It's just a nine-minute drive from the luxury hotel and while modest in size, it offers a bit of excitement with a magnificent view of the waterfront.
- Pair a trip to Gröna Lund with a stop at the nearby ABBA the Museum, dedicated to the pop band ubiquitous with Sweden and responsible for the hit musical Mamma Mia!
