Four Seasons Hotel Silicon Valley at East Palo Alto

A sophisticated hub of tech and creativity
VERIFIED LUXURY

Tucked away in a quiet office complex, Four Seasons Hotel Silicon Valley at East Palo Alto is ideally situated for both business and relaxation.

Step into the intimate lobby and you’ll notice it has that smart, new-hotel feeling. An extensive renovation completed in March 2017 brought a lush color scheme, digital art and a more inviting feel to the cozy space. Stop by Esc, the lobby café, for coffee or a glass of vino before sinking into a velvet loveseat or barrel chair to catch up on email.

If you’re a bit hungrier or crave a mixed libation, visit Intermezzo, the hotel bar that features classic and original cocktails and light bites. Or go to Quattro for fresh California-Italian cuisine ranging from salads and pizzas to pastas and meatier entrées.

Frequent travelers will appreciate the sleek guest rooms; all 200 were renovated in 2015 to feature spacious bath suites and all the tech conveniences you’d expect, plus the comforts you’ve come to love — like those heavenly signature Four Seasons’ beds.

Our Inspector's Highlights

  • No matter which member of the staff you interact with at the Silicon Valley hotel, everyone is focused on making your stay more comfortable. You will see it in the personalized welcome amenities for children and at the bar, where mixologists go off-menu to design a beverage to your tastes.
  • There is some notable art at the hotel. In the most striking piece behind the front desk, an artist who appears to be inside a wall of screens paints languid brush strokes on his canvas and then calmly makes them disappear.
  • Stepping out onto the secluded third-floor pool deck feels like you’ve been transported to a swank South Beach boutique hotel, awash in shades of tangerine and turquoise. Lounge on a chaise to get some rays or curl up in a cabana with your entourage and sip a margarita.
  • Recover from the strains and stresses of travel in one of the spa’s nine treatment rooms equipped with salt crystal lamps and aromatherapy oil blends specially formulated by H. Gillerman to relieve ailments from jaw tension to jetlag.
  • For a bold new look, turn to tailor Devan Rosdahl of clothing line Devan Vincent fame, who creates custom suits, shirts and shoes for Four Seasons Silicon Valley guests. Choose a natty topstitched blazer like the one in the lobby vitrine, or let him create a made-to-measure piece in the finest madras, Italian flannel or linen.

Things to Know

  • With its prime location off University Avenue and Interstate 101, Four Seasons Hotel Silicon Valley is an ideal base camp whether you’re headed for Facebook, Google or Stanford University.
  • The lobby lounge Esc is a place to see and be seen after 4 p.m. when it shifts from coffee shop to wine bar. On Fridays, a DJ takes over and the menu runs to freshly shucked oysters, caviar and tartines paired with copious amounts of champagne and sparkling wine.
  • There’s a reading nook with buttery leather seating and an outdoor view that’s perfect for taking a meeting, a call or getting some work done. The bookshelves are filled with great tomes by tech pioneers like Steve Jobs, founding stories of companies like Twitter and others on inspiration and creativity.

The Rooms

  • Swathed in an expanse of sand-colored travertine, the bathroom is luxurious, even in a standard room. Besides the separate tub, glass-walled shower and vanity stocked with L’Occitaine toiletries, the bath area is where you’ll find the closet and chest of drawers, which makes getting ready a snap.
  • Tech details aren’t overlooked in the guest rooms, ranging from the mounted 42-inch flat-screen TV to the Sony projection clocks. The bedside lamps are equipped with USB ports as well as outlets, so it’s convenient to stay powered up.
  • The Sleep Menu tempts with a dreamy array of enhancements designed to help you relax. Just press “0” on your room phone for a super-plush pillow, eucalyptus bath salts, a white noise machine or chamomile tea and lavender cookies.

The Restaurants

  • The Intermezzo bar offers a dizzying array of wines by the best producers in the world, brown spirits and all the high-end vodkas. Cocktails range from the Hugo (a light spritz with Taittinger champagne, elderflower and mint) to the Napoleon Experience, a $288 libation starring Louis XIII Cognac, Dom Pérignon champagne, fresh raspberries and rose water that’s created tableside.
  • The Esc café has a treasure trove of upscale drinks and meals behind wood doors that you can grab and take with you. The choices range from Can Can almond milk to cold-brew coffee and more filling options such as acai bowls and Cobb salads.
  • The luxury hotel’s signature restaurant, Quattro, serves up Italian cuisine with a California twist for breakfast, lunch and dinner every day but Sunday, when it offers a stylish brunch spread.
  • The Q burger at Quattro is delicious and satisfying. The secret is the ground short rib meat, expertly seasoned, cooked to order and topped with Dubliner cheddar, sweet onion rings and tomato jam.
