The Red Sea EDITION

A modern island hideaway on the Red Sea
VERIFIED LUXURY
Nestled on Shura Island, part of Saudi Arabia’s Red Sea Project, The Red Sea EDITION is where design-forward minimalism meets island tranquility. Inside the 240 sleek rooms (including 53 suites), each interior is quietly sophisticated — clean lines, natural tones and views that stretch to the ocean.

The hotel’s eateries (which include Central, Jiwa Beach Club and Jiwa Terrace) channel different energies: casual all-day fare, seaside vibrancy with a sunset soundtrack and playful pool-side bites. The spa leans into wellness, pairing treatments with holistic touches and rhythmic soundscapes rather than silence, while the gym balances performance with purpose.

Though the resort feels remote, the vibe is connected. Beach cabanas, rhythmic DJ nights at the Jiwa Beach Club and clever touches like “Aperi-Tea” in the lobby (a twist on tradition with tea-based cocktails) make the EDITION feel like an insider’s escape in the wild beauty of the Red Sea.

Our Inspector's Highlights

  • Getting to The Red Sea EDITION is all part of the experience: You’ll be whisked by luxury electric vehicle from Red Sea International Airport through the desert landscape to Shura Island. The heart of the Red Sea Project, the island also is home to the Shura Links golf course, a marina, shops and restaurants.
  • EDITION’s understated interiors spotlight natural textures, local stone and panoramic windows framing coral-studded waters. Even entry-level rooms feel like modernist beach houses rather than typical hotel rooms, with spacious seating areas, furnished terraces and chic neutral color palettes.
  • When you want atmosphere, head to Jiwa Beach Club for ambient performances, fire shows (weather permitting) and music anchoring the mood, timed so your meal aligns with golden light or the moonrise. For delicious dining, visit Anasa from well-known Saudi chef Basma Elkhereiji, who specializes in locally sourced fare (set to open in December).
  • Beyond the pool, a pristine private beach leads to snorkel-worthy reefs teeming with marine life. You can borrow eco-friendly gear for exploration.
  • Treatments at The Spa draw on regional botanicals like frankincense and sea salt harvested nearby. Communal hammams and soundscape rooms encourage wellness as a shared experience, not just a solo retreat.

The Restaurants

  • Signature restaurant Central is a multicultural mash-up — think NYC’s Grand Central Station meets the Red Sea coastline. Breakfast is a hearty affair, and afternoon and evening turn up the volume with hearty South American-style grilled meats (and vegetables) and inventive pizzas.
  • Southeast Asian spices meet sunset beats at Jiwa Beach Club. Expect freshly made dishes with Indonesian flavors, DJ sets as the light fades and a crowd that leans stylish but relaxed.
  • Jiwa Terrace is a prime spot for an alfresco mid-day escape. Grab shaved ice from an es campur trolley (a nod to Indonesian street food), citrus ceviches, fresh-pressed juices and zero-proof cocktails that pair well with a Red Sea sunset.
  • In the afternoon, pop into The Lobby for an Aperi-Tea ritual that reimagines the classic tea service with seasonal infusions and a social bar feel.
