The Sherry-Netherland
Manhattan's classic Jazz Age hotel
VERIFIED LUXURY
Here are five things to know about us:
1. We verify luxury. Our highly trained inspectors visit every property we rate, evaluating based on up to 900 objective criteria. Our hotel stays span a minimum of two nights.
2. We pay our own way. No one can buy a rating; all ratings are earned through our objective inspection process.
3. Our global team of inspectors are anonymous at all times, so they have the same experience as a typical guest.
4. While we inspect both service and facility, our Star Rating system emphasizes service because your experience at a hotel, restaurant or spa goes beyond looks — how it makes you feel is what you will remember most.
5. We started in1958 as Mobil Travel Guide, and we created the original Five-Star rating system for hospitality.
Five-Star
These properties deliver an outstanding experience and consistently offer a highly customized level of service.
Four-Star
These are exceptional properties, offering high levels of service and quality of facility to match.
Recommended
These are excellent properties with consistently good service and facilities.

Since its opening in 1927, The Sherry-Netherland has been a Central Park favorite and a Fifth Avenue landmark thanks to its stunning architecture and Gothic minaret. Its signature sidewalk clock denotes the hotel’s entrance, leading you into an intimate marble lobby with 18-foot vaulted ceilings.
Each of the 50 rooms, including 20 suites, is individually designed, bringing an even more unique aspect into the equation. Even the smallest rooms are spacious at 340 square feet. It’s hard to find a bad view during a stay at The Sherry, as many rooms look onto Central Park.
The European elegance also seeps into the hotel’s restaurant, Harry Cipriani. From the same family behind the famous Harry’s Bar in Venice, Italy, the classic restaurant is popular among hotel guests and Upper East Side neighbors alike.

Our Inspector's Highlights
- Everything about The Sherry-Netherland is classic — from the Gothic minaret atop the beautiful building to the elaborate lobby.
- The accommodations at the luxury Manhattan hotel harken back to the good old days of grand size — something that’s all but forgotten in New York. Even the smallest rooms are spacious at 340 square feet.
- Thanks to its prime location across from the main entrance of Central Park, The Sherry-Netherland is a great home base for any New York City trip.
- Little touches remind you that you’re staying in a luxury boutique hotel—you’ll find Louis Sherry chocolates, L’Occitane bath produces and fresh flowers in your room daily.
- Getting ready for a night out in the Big Apple is a cinch with designated men’s and women’s salons at The Sherry-Netherland. Ladies can grab a blowout at Privé Salon by Laurent D, while gents can enjoy a shave at Emile.
Things to Know
- You can’t help but feel like you’re in a European hotel; perhaps that’s due to the fact that the lobby was modeled after the Vatican Library (on a smaller scale, of course).
- The boutique Manhattan hotel has partnered with BarkBox to provide a luxury experience for your four-legged friend.
- The small luxury hotel does not offer an onsite spa, but at a small menu of facial treatments is available, along with cut and color, at Privé Salon by Laurent D.
The Rooms
- Each room is individually furnished to evoke a residence rather than a hotel — though with traditional but elegant décor, it certainly doesn’t feel like your grandmother’s place.
- The Manhattan hotel has 20 suites and 30 spacious standard rooms, with the smallest being around 340 square feet.
- Marble bathrooms add a bit of lavishness to the equation, while complimentary Wi-Fi brings you back to modern day.
- Sitting across from the main entrance to Central Park, many rooms boast gorgeous views of the legendary green space, while the rest offer courtyard views — which can translate to looking at the building next door.
The Restaurants
- Harry Cipriani — yes, the same Harry Cipriani of Harry’s Bar in Venice, Italy — sits off the lobby of the historic hotel. If you’ve been to the legendary Venetian spot, you may recognize the décor; the Central Park restaurant is a near replica.
- Open for breakfast, lunch and dinner daily, Harry Cipriani has a dish to satisfy nearly any craving. Classic bites include risotto alla primavera, braised Osso Buco and handmade potato gnocchi with Gorgonzola.
- The classic Venetian cuisine pairs perfectly with a fizzy Bellini — Harry’s Bar in Venice is credited with creating the champagne cocktail, after all.
- One perk of being a guest at The Sherry is the 20 percent discount you receive when dining at Harry Cipriani.
