Mandarin Oriental, Muscat

Oman’s modern seaside oasis
VERIFIED LUXURY

Opened in June 2024, Mandarin Oriental, Muscat makes a bold entrance as the brand’s first hotel in Oman. Set along the Gulf of Oman in the prestigious Shatti Al-Qurum neighborhood, this palatial retreat greets guests with a bright white façade just steps away from the coastline.

Inside, acclaimed French designer Xavier Cartron brings Omani culture to life with gorgeous details, from intricately carved wooden doors to a lobby graced by bubbling fountains and a multicolored crystal chandelier.

The resort’s infinity pool keeps those gulf views front and center, while its 103 rooms and 47 suites, adorned with local materials like desert rose marble and ash wood, celebrate Oman’s natural beauty and heritage.

Our Inspector's Highlights

  • Thanks to its prime location where the city meets the sea, the Muscat hotel makes it easy to explore cultural landmarks and vibrant souks without straying too far from the beach.
  • The elegantly designed rooms reflect Oman’s rich heritage and diverse landscapes. Ornate headboards take inspiration from traditional textiles, soft pink oil paintings pay homage to the country’s famous rose harvest and the color palette draws from the sea and sand dunes.
  • Looking to explore beyond your luxurious accommodations? Mandarin Oriental, Muscat’s concierge can arrange any number of excursions, from city tours to remote adventures like visiting Oman’s Grand Canyon, the ancient Nizwa Fort and Jabal Akhdar's rose terraces.
  • Find respite from the Oman sun at The Spa at Mandarin Oriental, Muscat. Indulge in a Rose Quartz Ritual featuring locally sourced damask rose or experience a traditional hammam surrounded by dazzling mosaics.
  • Sun worshippers can unwind on the hotel’s stretch of white sand beach or relax by the 30-meter outdoor pool overlooking the gulf.

The Restaurants

  • With its rustic stone walls, exposed beams and natural light, Essenza effectively transports you to the Italian countryside. Delight in dishes like lasagna with wagyu beef ragu, crispy Italian veal chop and tiramisu while you soak up la dolce vita atmosphere.
  • Picture-perfect Rawya, an all-day brasserie serving up East-meets-West flavors inspired by the Silk Road, provides a scenic spot for breakfast or lunch between dips in the Gulf of Oman.
  • Inspired by Venice’s cicchetti (light bites) and spritz tradition, Sì Breeze offers delectable snacks and handcrafted cocktails with ocean views. Moody lighting and live entertainment make this seasonal terrace lounge a must-visit after sundown.
  • Craving something sweet? Stop by The Mandarin Cake Shop to sample exquisite desserts from Stephane Tranchet, the hotel’s executive pastry chef.
