Star Tower at Studio City Macau

Flashy cinematic flair in Macau
VERIFIED LUXURY
Studio City Macau, which made its debut in the fall of 2015, unabashedly juts from the Macau’s skyline. The property is a flashy, cinema-themed behemoth with just about any entertainment option you can think of — the luxurious Star Tower hotel, a waterpark, the world's highest figure-8 Ferris wheel, more than 30 restaurants, indoor and outdoor pools, a sprawling spa and, believe it or not, a whole lot more.

Our Inspector's Highlights
  • Between the hotel’s two towers is the iconic Golden Reel, the world's highest figure-eight Ferris wheel that offers 360-degree views across the Cotai Strip and beyond.
  • Splash around in Macau’s largest waterpark. Attractions include Golden Bucket, which has 60 interactive water features and multiple slides; a Little Lagoon for kids; and Riverscape, a jungle-themed action river that stretches more than 850 feet long; and three white-sand beaches.

  • If you prefer a less action-packed water experience, opt for the enormous outdoor swimming pool, myriad Jacuzzis, private cabanas and a pool bar, all amid beautiful scenery.
  • While there are many dining options at the Macau resort, Pearl Dragon stands out. The Five-Star restaurant serves contemporary Cantonese cuisine in a sophisticated setting.

  • After a heart-pounding time on the rides and waterpark, slow your pace at Zensa Spa. The lavish and elegant Five-Star spa offers 13 treatment rooms, vitality pools, saunas, steam rooms and snow rooms.

Things to Know
  • The expansive Zensa Spa does indeed offer a quiet corner (on the third floor of the Star Tower) in the otherwise busy resort complex.
  • Since this is Macau, there is a glitzy casino — decked in gold and red — where you can try your luck at gaming tables or high-tech slots.
The Rooms
  • Studio City has nearly 1,600 rooms across two distinct towers — the Celebrity Tower and the Star Tower — ranging from 452 to 1,991 square feet.
  • The all-suite Star Tower is the more luxurious of the two, featuring spacious rooms (they start at over 600 square feet) marble bathrooms with walk-in rain showers, Nespresso machines, floor-to-ceiling windows and a slew of complimentary perks.
  • The look of the Star Tower rooms is thoroughly contemporary with a minimalistic vibe and lots of black, gray and white with pops of gold accents.
  • Celebrity Tower rooms have a warmer vibe with muted reds, blues and warm-wood furniture; cinematic touches like film scrolls ensure you won’t forget where you are.
The Restaurants
  • This larger-than-life address is home to more than 30 food and beverage outlets.
  • Highlights include sophisticated Cantonese restaurant Pearl Dragon and Japanese establishment Hide Yamamoto.
  • An indoor Macau Gourmet Walk is devoted to casual local staples and designed to mimic the region’s spiraling tile sidewalks with Old World Chinese accents throughout.
  • If you can’t make up your mind, just make your way to Spotlight. This Art Deco, cinema-themed eatery serves elaborate buffets all day long offering an array of international cuisine, fresh seafood and delicate desserts.
