Waldorf Astoria Jerusalem

Old World luxury in Jerusalem’s Old City
VERIFIED LUXURY

Old World charm and modern comforts come together to create one luxurious city-center stay at Waldorf Astoria Jerusalem. Just minutes from ancient sites, including the Jaffa Gate, Western Wall and Church of the Holy Sepulchre, the historic hotel has a tale or two of its own to tell.

Built on the foundations of 1920s-era The Palace Hotel, Waldorf Astoria Jerusalem blends beautifully into its surroundings, thanks to lovingly restored Jerusalem stone walls and arabesque-style curved windows that line the upper floors. Interiors imagined by Turkish designer Sinan Kafadar update art deco opulence for modern sensibilities and a gorgeous garden-inspired atrium firmly anchors the space in Jerusalem’s Old City.

But this luxury hotel isn’t stuck in the past. Elegant fine dining featuring the best of the region’s bounty, a spa offering exclusive Parisian products and a breezy terrace serving trendy craft cocktails make this a see-and-be-seen spot for the jet-set crowd.

Our Inspector's Highlights

  • The glass-roofed lobby at Waldorf Astoria Jerusalem exudes the ambiance of an Old World courtyard and makes for a charming spot to rest your legs after a long day of exploring. If you’re lucky, you might even get to witness the roof opening to reveal the blue desert sky above — an engineering feat you’re most likely to experience during the fall holiday of Sukkot.
  • Rooms are classic and comfortable with a soothing cream and taupe color palette to match the luxury hotel’s historic Jerusalem stone exterior. Deep-soaking tubs and crystal chandeliers lend an extra touch of luxury to the relaxing spaces.
  • Installed only a few years ago, Waldorf Astoria Jerusalem’s subterranean pool looks like a piece of history with arched ceilings, sandstone columns and strategically placed uplighting that gives the chamber a soothing glow.
  • The antidote to a long day of sightseeing in the desert sun, a treatment at Guerlain Spa is a restorative (and exclusive) experience — the Waldorf Astoria’s spa is the only facility in Israel to offer treatments featuring products from the famed French skincare brand.
  • The family-friendly Jerusalem hotel caters to children with bespoke activities like scavenger hunts, a kids’ club and even a pint-sized breakfast buffet packed with kid-approved options like veggie sticks, fruit skewers and a waffle and pancake topping bar.

The Restaurants
  • Breakfast at The Palace is an indulgent affair at Waldorf Astoria Jerusalem and as much a highlight for locals as for hotel guests. Bountiful displays of fresh pastries (ranging from French to Moroccan varieties), fruits, salads, cheeses and savory offerings like lasagna and polenta are delightful accompaniments to à la carte specialties and sparkling sips.
  • Elegantly lit by crystal chandeliers, The Palace is a chic spot to indulge in Israeli cuisine from executive chef Itzik Mizrahi. Jerusalem-inspired plates range from dips, like housemade tahini or almond labneh, to hearty mains, including duck thigh confit sweetened with medjool dates.
  • Plush seating and arched windows looking out over the city make King’s Court a regal place for afternoon tea. Settle into a tufted settee as a triple-tiered tray of dainty delights and a steaming pot of tea arrive at your table for you to enjoy as you watch the world go by.
  • Savor a light vegetable-forward lunch in King’s Court between excursions through Jerusalem. The kosher dairy restaurant doesn’t serve meat, but you’ll hardly go hungry with dishes like a Mediterranean-inspired sandwich packed with feta, eggplant and tomato or hearty gnocchi in rose sauce.
  • During the summer, soak in the sunset with a cocktail from The Terrace lounge. Sip on tipples, like a Mediterranean G&T made with rosemary-infused local gin, and graze on a small menu of chef-curated bites, like sea bream sashimi or harissa-spiced beef kebabs.
