Regent Hong Kong

A serene harborfront hideaway
VERIFIED LUXURY

In the 1980s, Regent Hong Kong was the place to see and be seen, welcoming a long list of notable guests like U.S. President Jimmy Carter, Frank Sinatra, Elizabeth Taylor and Robert De Niro. The hotel switched hands in 2001, operating as an InterContinental for the next two decades.

Following a dramatic two-year transformation, the storied property returned to its roots in 2023, reemerging on the banks of Victoria Harbour in Tsim Sha Tsui with a serene, understated design. Brought to life by world-renowned architect Chi Wing Lo, the hotel’s interiors instantly soothe the senses the moment you walk through the door thanks to sleek black granite floors, shimmering vertical glass-brick screens and three-story-tall windows framing the harbor in the distance.

While it may have a new look, the hotel has long been known for its exceptional dining options — and that much hasn’t changed. Rediscover longtime favorites The Steak House, heralded Lai Ching Heen (formerly Yan Toh Heen), Harbourside and Nobu Hong Kong.

Our Inspector's Highlights

  • This is about as “harborfront” as it gets. The Hong Kong hotel is so close to the water that you can practically reach out and touch the cargo ships and Star Ferries careening past. Roughly two-thirds of the accommodations face the water — it’s worth the upgrade to enjoy the transfixing views.
  • The luxurious and lush Pool Terrace offers a quiet place to relax and cool off from the oppressive Hong Kong heat and humidity. The amazing view looks out over the promenade and Victoria Harbour.
  • Just outside, Victoria Dockside — a hub of art, design, retail and dining — and the renovated Avenue of Stars await. Plus, you’re just a five-minute walk from the Hong Kong Museum of Art, Hong Kong Cultural Centre, Space Museum, Star Ferry and MTR station for easy access to the rest of the city.
  • The hotel features contemporary artwork at every turn, from Hong Kong new media artist Hung Keung’s Nourish film captured on a 50-foot-long digital art LED screen behind the check-in counter to Lyrical Brush Strokes — an Homage, an alluring glowing canvas in the elevator lobby.
  • Regent Hong Kong is a dining destination. While the restaurants serve everything from Cantonese to steakhouse fare, you will even find delicious welcome amenities in your room showcasing Hong Kong’s best-loved snacks, including flaky custard egg tarts and chilled milk tea. Also stop by Qura Bar, a lounge that combines glamorous art deco touches and eclectic pieces (like brass monkey light fixtures), provides harbor views, and offers creative cocktails and cigars (there's even a dedicated cigar room).

The Rooms

  • If you’re looking for a personal haven to rest and recharge after a busy day in Hong Kong, you’ve come to the right place. Decked out in calming creamy tones, light wood and softly curving lines, each room exudes tranquility.
  • Ranging from the 322-square-foot Classic Room overlooking Kowloon to the 1,075-square-foot Harbourview Corner Suite, the accommodations feel extra spacious thanks to open-plan layouts and expansive windows.
  • Rooms and suites feature a spa-like “oasis bathroom” designed to help you rejuvenate with deep-soaking Japanese bathtubs (in most room types) and natural materials like brushed granite, oak and honed Calacatta marble.
  • Victoria Harbour has inspired many design decisions at the luxury hotel, including the wave-like vaulted ceilings, the patterned mirrored sliding doors and an inviting daybed running the length of the windows.
  • Upgrade to a suite that gives you access to the Regent Club, a tranquil, spacious second-floor lounge that serves tempting spreads for breakfast and dinner as well as afternoon tea.

The Restaurants

  • With its plush sofas, soft tones and three-story-high windows, The Lobby Lounge remains one of the city’s best places to enjoy a leisurely breakfast, afternoon tea or evening glass of champagne as the city lights dance across the harbor.
  • Set right along the waterfront, Harbourside offers a modern, bright buffet experience with a wide array of global fare. Whether you’re craving freshly shucked oysters, dim sum, Indian or Japanese, you can find it all here at the lively food stations.
  • Sultry and sophisticated, The Steak House continues to impress with its premium meats sourced from prized farms around the globe. Come for the charcoal-grilled wagyu, Hanwoo and 160-day grain-fed black Angus, but stay for the elaborate salad bar, indulgent desserts and wine list.
  • Year after year, Lai Ching Heen continues to garner praise for its authentic Cantonese cuisine and collection of the finest Chinese teas. In this sophisticated jade-toned setting, indulge in delicate dim sum dishes for lunch or embark on a dinner-tasting menu to sample executive chef Lau Yiu Fai’s signature dishes. For the full experience, ask the restaurant’s dedicated tea sommelier to suggest pairings to accentuate the meal.
  • Chef Nobu Matsuhisa brings his beloved Japanese-Peruvian cuisine to Nobu Hong Kong. But here, his famous dishes like black cod with miso and toro tartare with caviar come with stunning harbor views.
