Our Inspector's Highlights
• Located on Mody Road near the TST East Promenade, you’re surrounded by some of the city’s best shopping (from expert tailors ready to whip up made-to-measure suits to luxe tea shops to fantastic jade jewelry), restaurants and nightlife.
• Whether your poison is an expertly made Sidecar or a steaming cup of jasmine tea, we love taking some time out of the day to enjoy the glamorous lobby, which features enormous golden chandeliers and a burbling fountain.
• The lobby lounge features classical music each night, given its refined décor. Besides offering cocktails, it also plays host to afternoon tea and live music throughout the day.
Things to Know
• The hotel is located on the eastern side of Tsim Sha Tsui, a prime shopping district on the Kowloon side of Hong Kong. If you want to venture beyond Kowloon, the TST subway and Star Ferry are both just minutes away.
• Whether you have a craving for chicken tikka, nigiri sushi, Parma ham and melon, wonton noodle soup or a simple club sandwich, we bet you’ll find whatever you have a hankering for on the extensive — and very tasty — room service menu.
• Rooms even feature a 24-hour butler call button should you realize you need an extra dental kit sent up at 2 a.m.
The Rooms
• Guest rooms at Kowloon Shangri-La offer a range of amenities and all the modern conveniences you’d expect in a major luxury hotel.
• Deluxe Harbour View rooms feature a king sized bed, writing desk that turns into a television console, and small sitting area with patterned red club chairs and an ottoman.
• All rooms are bright, thanks to floor-to-ceiling bay windows that offer dazzling views of the city center or, better yet, Victoria Harbour, and what’s cool about the curtains is that as soon as you insert your keycard into the front door's power slot, they will open like magic.
• In-room technology throughout Kowloon Shangri-La includes a Samsung flat-screen TV with satellite movie channels, free Wi-Fi and broadband access, a computer data port hookup and a 24-hour butler call button so you can immediately address any concerns with the flick of a switch.
The Restaurants
• The hotel's Angelini offers Italian dishes and panoramic windows in a nice yet not-too-formal setting every day for lunch and dinner.
• Café Kool caters to a diverse range of tastes — whether you prefer salad, pasta, dessert, Asian or Indian food — with a six-station buffet open 6 a.m. to midnight every day. You can also order à la carte at Déli Kool, which has breakfast pastries, desserts and other items, and are all quickly prepared and easy to grab when you’re on the go.
• Choose to eat grill side or at the sushi bar at Japanese restaurant Nadaman. However, the most acclaimed restaurant on the property is Shang Palace, specializing in Cantonese cuisine, open daily for lunch and dinner.
• The Tapas Bar also has stunning views to go with your glass of wine or cocktail, plus tapas dishes like chicken croquette and pepper-seared tuna.
