Rosewood Doha

Quiet luxury in a landmark location
VERIFIED LUXURY
Sitting on the edge of the newly created city of Lusail, Rosewood Doha has already established its sense of place within its twin towers in the thriving Qatari capital just steps from the marina and boardwalk.

From the stylishly attired door staff (complete with hats and swooping capes) to the art pieces sourced from local museums, guests are encouraged to engage with Qatari culture at every turn.

The intricately latticed exterior of Qatar’s first Rosewood is an elegant and stylish retreat spanning 155 sun-drenched guest rooms and suites, 162 serviced apartments and 276 residences. The accommodations are complemented by a selection of buzz-worthy restaurants and bars (including Koo Madame, named after a former Shanghai society icon), and a suitably glamorous tea lounge.

Our Inspector's Highlights

  • Design shines throughout the property. The hotel’s two towers, designed by acclaimed Qatari architect Ibrahim Al Jaidah, resemble a coral reef. Meanwhile Rosewood Doha’s public spaces feature photography by Azzam Al Mannai, who has garnered praise for his images of Qatar’s unique marine life.
  • Book a Manor Club room to gain access to special lounge with various culinary offerings — from breakfast through to evening canapes — plus private check-in and more in a cozy environment.
  • Both Chinese restaurant Koo Madame and Levantine spot Mila have their own individually curated wine cellars and drinks programs, as well as touches like handmade glassware, an approach that is unique for Doha.
  • Guests are encouraged to fully connect with Qatari culture with a range of offered experiences, from immersive tours of Souq Waqif to an opportunity to try the ancient sport of falconry.
  • The Doha hotel runs the Rosewood Explorers program for kids ages four to 12, giving them their own pool, indoor and outdoor play areas and a program of activities to keep even the most energetic little one occupied.

The Rooms

  • The thoughtful and Qatari-influenced design aspects carry over into the rooms. For example, the suites and residences feature dramatic monochrome artworks by Yasser Al Mulla and ceramic chinaware pieces by Ghada Al Khater. The largest suites are known as “houses” and are named after historically significant and landmark locations in Qatar: Al Jassassiya, Al Shaqab and Al Wajba.
  • Even the entry-level Deluxe rooms are a generous 505 square feet with both a walk-in shower and a bathtub, walk-in closets and floor-to-ceiling windows to soak in the views.
  • If you seek more space and comfort, the 1,840-square-footReef Suite has separate living area with a dining table for eight (and a pantry kitchen), a marble bathroom and your own butler.
  • The 7,750-square-foot Al Wajba House is the ultimate retreat. It features a private majlis (a Qatari-style gathering space), a family living area, dining room for 12 guests, its own spa and fitness studio, and a piano room.
  • The one-, two- and three-bedroom Residences are designed for longer stays (up to one year). The units come with all the creature comforts of home such as a living area and a fully equipped kitchen. They also include access to The Lounge, exclusively for Residence guests.

The Restaurants

  • The lobby-level Butterfly Room is like Doha’s living room, with locals and visitors flocking there for the social after-tea vibe, intricate pastries presented like a fashion atelier and handmade truffles from the Butterfly patisserie.
  • Art deco-inspired Koo Madame’s Cantonese and Northern Chinese menu is varied and impressive. The glossy Beijing duck, roasted in a woodfired oven is the highlight, is carved tableside by one of the skilled chefs, as are the handmade dim sum.
  • Stoke & Stoker, the luxury hotel’s bar and lounge, has a waterside terrace and a menu of thoughtful cocktails themed around the golden age of travel. You are encouraged to select flavors and ingredients and let the mixologists do the rest.
  • At the heart of Mila, the 24-hour Levantine Mediterranean restaurant, is a wood-fired oven that turns out freshly baked flatbread, sourdough and pizzas to go along with a huge menu of mezze, grilled proteins and regional specialties.
  • Cigar Bar Sikar allows guests to store their own collection in temperature-controlled lockers. The leather seats invite you to sink in and the in-house jazz pianist makes you want you to stay a while and try the drinks.
