Conrad Athens The Ilisian

A reimagined landmark steps from city sites
VERIFIED LUXURY
As new life is being infused into Athens’ icons, the living museum of a city is undergoing a modern-day renaissance spearheaded by hotel debuts like Conrad Athens The Ilisian. Within walking distance to some of the city’s most sought-after sites, the 278-room property reopened in April 2026 as a lavish urban resort complete with Athens’ largest outdoor pool and a 7,500-square-foot green roof ringed by a private running track.

Sporting some of the city’s most spacious rooms, most peering at the legendary Acropolis, Conrad Athens The Ilisian is also emerging as a dining destination with nine different concepts, from a rooftop bar to poolside dining to a French-Greek brasserie with its own cheese master, chocolaterie and patisserie.

As one of the world’s oldest cities, Athens is teeming with masterpieces, but the hotel beautifully complements its surroundings through a curated art program with modernist pieces commissioned from historic ateliers and celebrated ceramicists — plus sculpted marble façades that nod to Greek mythology.

Our Inspector's Highlights

  • Midcentury modern-style rooms and suites show off views from the Acropolis to the sea and the majority feature private balconies. The Athens hotel also claims the city’s largest suite collection, with the plush Omega Penthouse — which will feature its own private pool overlooking panoramas of the Acropolis and Aegean — slated to open later this year.
  • At Byzantino Grande Brasserie, respected Greek chef Angelos Lantos fuses the best of Greek and French cuisine for an Athenian take on a brasserie — complete with foie gras terrine, Burgundian-style escargot and traditional beef tartare, plus classics like pita with feta and fava bean spread. At the outdoor pool restaurant and bar, you’ll find modern Italian fare sprinkled with flavors from the Mediterranean.
  • At the Odei Wellness Residence, face and body treatments nod to rituals from ancient Greece, and Dr. Costas Papageorgiou will soon mark his Athens debut with longevity-focused offerings. Amenities like a heated indoor pool, infrared sauna and biosauna, Finnish sauna, cold plunge and steam room can also be found inside.
  • Wellness extends far beyond a spa and fitness center. The hotel also has an immersive cycling studio, a yoga and Pilates area, an outdoor pool, a pickleball court, an outdoor gym and a private rooftop running track overlooking sweeping city views.
  • As part of the Conrad 1/3/5 program, the hotel offers one-, three- and five-hour tailormade experiences in Athens, from sunset aperitivo overlooking the Acropolis to expert-led perfume workshops at The Naxos Apothecary and cycling through vineyards in the Peloponnese.
