Fairmont Amman

An elegant oasis in Jordan’s capital
VERIFIED LUXURY

Fairmont Amman is a stylish escape at the center of Jordan’s kinetic capital city. Tastefully placed chandeliers, oversized vases of artfully arranged flowers, Arabesque accents, sweeping city views through floor-to-ceiling windows, and splashes of blue, yellow and orange against a beige backdrop create a space that is grand but never gaudy.

While there is plenty to explore outside this centrally located hotel, its seven distinct restaurants, bars and lounges make Fairmont Amman a dining destination in itself. From an international brunch at Nur to British-inspired afternoon tea at Crystal to late-night sushi at Tsuki, any craving can be sated within the property’s serene sandstone-colored walls.

When it comes time to unwind, an outdoor pool helps you soak up some Jordan sun, while one of the capital’s largest spas is at your fingertips — don’t miss a chance to float in the unique Dead Sea Pool or zone out in the spacious hammam.

In every experience, meal and design detail here, there is an undeniable air of international elegance.

Our Inspector's Highlights

  • Fairmont Amman’s contemporary design by international architecture firm Wimberly Allison Tong & Goo incorporates Arabesque elements with European elegance to create a uniquely sumptuous space.
  • Willow Stream Spa brings a bit of the Dead Sea to the Amman hotel, so if you don’t have time in your itinerary to spend a day at the lowest point on earth, reserving a Floating in the Dead Sea mud treatment is the next best thing.
  • The wellness offerings at Fairmont Amman are next level: in addition to using the Life Fitness machines, you can join a group class, book a private trainer or choose a workout from the Fitness on Demand program.
  • Fresh flowers expertly arranged by the in-house florist breathe life into the otherwise earth-toned entrance and lobby area in a city that is overwhelmingly sand-colored.
  • High ceilings, muted colors, sophisticated yet simple decor, an abundance of natural light, superb service and one of Amman’s largest spas make this luxury hotel an oasis of calm in a city that can often feel congested and chaotic.

Things to Know

  • Fairmont Amman is in Abdoun, a safe and upscale neighborhood that is also home to numerous embassies and excellent eateries.
  • The restored Roman Theatre, Roman ruins and Umayyad Palace at Citadel Hill, Al Balad (historic downtown) and other cultural attractions are just minutes away. The concierge can help you plan your itinerary or arrange a guided walking tour.
  • Willow Stream Spa is one of only a handful of places in Amman where you will find couples spa treatments on the menu, so take advantage of the rare opportunity if you are traveling with someone special.
  • Traffic in Amman is intense, and the official rules of the road are not always clear (nor followed). Request an airport transfer in advance if you’d like to relax while you ride and leave the driving to a local.

The Rooms

  • Works by Jordanian artists (created exclusively for the Abdoun hotel) add a hint of local flavor to the rooms’ contemporary design.
  • Fairmont Amman’s 317 spacious accommodations start at 452 square feet. Highlights include bespoke Sealy mattresses, marble bathrooms with rain showers and tubs stocked with Le Labo amenities, and floor-to-ceiling windows boasting sweeping views of the cityscape.
  • Elegant décor, bookshelves, a kitchenette, a fireplace and the deliberate division of space between the living room, bedroom and bathroom in the suites and residences set a tone of home — it’s as if you are walking into an apartment rather than a hotel room.
  • Splurge on a Fairmont Gold Room to enjoy signature extras like dedicated concierge service and access to an exclusive lounge where complimentary breakfast, afternoon tea and evening canapes are served.
  • All suites and Gold level rooms include butler service.

The Restaurants

  • Bedouin fabrics meet contemporary design at Nasim, where regional recipes and local flavors shine. Arrive just before sunset to watch the last rays of the day dance through the floor-to-ceiling windows while you relax on cushions with a Set in Stone mocktail (mint, bee pollen, cucumber and tonic) and Fairmont Falafel sandwich.
  • If you have a healthy appetite, head to Tsuki on Tuesday for all-you-can-eat sushi from 7 p.m. to midnight. Those who aren’t fans of raw fish can sup on other Japanese favorites, like wagyu beef teppanyaki, chicken robata (Japanese-style barbecue) and soba noodles.
  • Salt Steakhouse focuses on quality meats cooked over a wood-burning grill, sliced before your eyes and paired with international wines in this European-inspired, open-kitchen concept restaurant.
  • Friday brunch at Nur transports you around the world. Though the restaurant has a Lebanese appearance (Arabesque décor with glittering lanterns, mosaic tiles, carved wooden accents and a stunning domed ceiling anchored by a central chandelier), its brunch offers a wide selection of signature international dishes from the hotel's six venues.
