Banyan Tree Cabo Marqués

An all-villa cliffside hideaway
VERIFIED LUXURY
Editor's note: Banyan Tree Cabo Marqués will reopen on January 1, 2025.

High up on the rocky cliffs of the Diamond Zone in Acapulco, Banyan Tree Cabo Marqués overlooks the alluring waters of the Pacific Ocean. Even better, you can admire the unparalleled view from a luxurious stilted villa ensconced in greenery. The tranquil all-villa hideaway resides in a private, gated community on a peninsula, making it even more of a secluded getaway.

While there, visit the spa, dine at one of the three restaurants, enjoy a romantic meal on the beach and try a tequila and mezcal tasting. The modern, Southeast Asia-styled property also features glamping for kids, cooking classes with the chefs and sunrise yoga. Don’t miss a dip in the striking infinity pool that juts out past the cliff’s edge — it’s yet another special spot to take in the staggering vista.

Our Inspector's Highlights

  • While each of the 45 villas affords a lovely view of the hillside, ocean or bay, the cliff-edge options put you even closer to the water. Reserve the Ocean View Pool Villa for this visage and a private, heated pool overlooking it all.
  • Visit the spa, where many of the treatments incorporate coconut and honey to nourish and soften the skin. Book the Royal Banyan treatment for a massage that blends Eastern and Western techniques and features a warm herbal poultice dipped in sesame oil.
  • Warm creams and natural wood hues imbue each Asian-inspired villa with the nature surrounding the Acapulco hotel. In fact, bright greenery shields each villa from the next, adding to the sense of privacy, whether indulging in the deep soaking tub, dipping into the elevated infinity pool or lounging on the spacious deck.
  • No matter what villa you stay in, each bedroom features floor-to-ceiling windows, allowing for ample natural light and a beautiful view right from the bed. Order breakfast to the villa to lounge in your luscious bed for even longer.
  • The 65-foot infinity Reflections pool hangs over the side of the cliff. Come here for swimming, sunbathing and sunset watching.

The Restaurants
  • Get a taste of Thailand at Saffron. Each menu item speaks to Thai culture, keeping ingredients authentic and fresh. Expect curries, plenty of seafood and popular dishes such as tom yum soup and pad Thai with mango salad.
  • Chef Manuel Morales runs La Nao, the property's main restaurant serving breakfast, lunch and dinner. The menu proves vast, with global-fusion dishes ranging from chilaquiles for breakfast to octopus tacos for lunch to grilled lobster with orange-vanilla sauce for dinner. Another reason to dine here: La Nao’s outdoor seating peeks out over the water.
  • Los Rocas Grill and Bar offers casual dishes from the state of Guerrero. While you nibble on a plate of chalupitas and sip a mezcalina (a mezcal cocktail), listen to the soothing melody of the waves crashing below in Puerto Marqués Bay.
  • Grab a cocktail with a view at Las Vistas Bar and Lounge. The evening lounge also serves tapas with a local twist, including chicken wings tossed in tamarind sauce, flank steak tacos and tostadas with shrimp aquachile — it’s just the place for a midnight snack or drink.
  • Book a chef to come in and grill a meal from the comfort of your villa. It’s a special way to eat in privacy while taking in a sunset.
