In Rome there are many great concert venues, and depending on what your favorite music genre is you will head to a different location.
For jazz concerts among the best venues is the Auditorium Parco della Musica. The place has many halls, each of them ideal for different types of music, be it jazz, orchestra concerts, electronic music and even theater plays.
Summer time, a great location for jazz concerts are also the public parks of Villa Ada and Villa Celimontana, where every year it's hosted also the Jazz Festival. In Villa Ada concerts take place in the little island of the lake Laghetto di Villa Ada, possible to reach from Via di Ponte Salario.
When it comes to rock concerts, the most popular venues are the Ippodromo Capannelle (55 Viale Europa), Rome's hippodrome, where Italian and international rock bands perform, and where recently there was Bruce Springsteen concert, and the Stadio Olimpico, the city's stadium, with a capacity of seating more than 70,000 people.
Sometimes Rome also has free concerts, often for charity, where the most famous Italian and international artists are invited to perform, and usually they take place either at the Circus Maximus, where I've seen a great Alicia Keys and Carlos Santana, and at Piazzale Flaminio, where I listened to Alanis Morissette.
Finally, every year for May 1st Piazza San Giovanni, near San Giovanni metro station on line A, hosts a free concert all day long, where artists such as Erykah Badu and the Cranberries have performed.
