Palazzo Ripetta

A glamorous, 1920s-style boutique stay
VERIFIED LUXURY

Embracing the glamour and style of the 1920s, Palazzo Ripetta is Rome’s latest hotel icon. The independent property brings a sophisticated and retro vibe to the Eternal City. Located in a 17th-century palace that was once a convent and subsequently renovated over the years, Palazzo Ripetta leans in on its early-20th-century art deco incarnation with beautifully restored ornamental details, such as curved moldings and inlaid panels, and period design pieces.

The luxury hotel is an urban respite. Rome residents and other visitors come to Piazzetta Ripetta, its open courtyard, and Etere, the rooftop terrace bar. The art deco look is complemented by the owner’s personal collection of contemporary art, creating a de facto gallery effect throughout the public areas. The 78 rooms, including 27 suites, are tastefully styled with light tones and rich accents, giving them an overall calming aesthetic.

Palazzo Ripetta’s location is one of the best in Rome. Situated on Via di Ripetta, one of three main streets in the historic center’s Tridente neighborhood, the hotel is within walking distance to cultural sites like the Ara Pacis, Trevi Fountain and Pantheon, as well as Villa Borghese park and Vatican City. It’s also surrounded by the city’s top boutiques and incredible restaurants.

Our Inspector's Highlights

  • The city center location is unbeatable. The hotel is surrounded by the Eternal City’s best shops and is close to several cultural sites and historic monuments.
  • The Rome hotel is like a contemporary art gallery, with notable works (from the owner’s private collection) throughout every area, including pieces by Andy Warhol, Angel Ortiz, Alberto Burri and Arnaldo Pomodoro.
  • Piazzetta Ripetta is the hotel’s interior, open-air courtyard. The lovely oasis is a great spot to see and be seen and enjoy a late-afternoon or evening aperitivo at Baylon cocktail bar.
  • Brunch at San Baylon Restaurant is a big scene in Rome. The retro-style trattoria offers a buffet of Roman favorites, including pastas and prosciutto and mozzarella, as well as international treats like eggs Benedict and pancakes.
  • Etere, Palazzo Ripetta’s rooftop terrace, feels far away from the crowds. The wine-focused bar stocks some of the most important producers in Italy, France, the U.S. and Australia.

The Rooms

  • The 78 rooms and suites are beautifully decorated by Fausta Gaetani, the designer behind some of Italy’s most iconic boutique hotels. Each accommodation serves as an ecru canvas with red, blue or green accents in textile headboards; Murano glass chandeliers; and original artwork.
  • Throughout the room, you will find luxe Italian artisan details, including quality linens, plush towels and robes, and gorgeous marbles.
  • The boutique hotel’s 27 suites and luxury apartments are spacious with high ceilings. Several include hydro pools and steam showers, while suites on the first and second floors are bi-level with loft areas and sitting rooms.
  • Sustainability is a focus throughout the rooms and hotel with keys made of thin wood, a low-impact eco-sustainable air-conditioning system, Maniva water in recyclable waxed-paper-based containers and Ortigia bathroom amenities in recyclable aluminum-based tubes.
