Kempinski The Spa at Siam Kempinski Hotel Bangkok

Bangkok's urban sanctuary
VERIFIED LUXURY
In the heart of the city behind the capital’s famous Siam Paragon shopping mall, Siam Kempinski Hotel somehow manages to create an oasis of calm in a busy city and Kempinski The Spa is one reason it succeeds. The hotel’s main buildings surround a lush landscaped garden that was once part of the 19th-century Sra Pathum Palace, or Lotus Pond Palace.

In fact, if you want a little sacred tranquillity, book one of the 21 rooms that have direct access to swimming pools set within the greenery. But if you can’t secure one of these coveted guest rooms, visit the bliss-inducing spa instead. Siam Kempinski’s signature contemporary design and lotus flower theme — a nod to the hotel’s royal heritage — continues into the luxurious settings of Kempinski The Spa, whisking you even further away from the chaos of the city.

Our Inspector's Highlights
  • The seventh-floor Bangkok spa has a muted color palette, which pays homage to the beige, purple and green hues of the lotus flower. The look has an immediate calming effect.
  • Before you step into one of the eight treatment rooms, named after ingredients in the spa products (Macadamia, Kombucha, Calendula), unwind with a welcome lemongrass drink in the relaxation room.
  • Each seasonal therapy has its own healing properties — spring is detoxing, summer is balancing, fall is relaxing and winter is energizing.
Things to Know
  • Complete a spa questionnaire and your therapist will customize the treatment for you with specially selected products and therapeutic techniques to match your needs.
  • Activities like yoga, aerobics, stretching and muay Thai (Thai kickboxing) are offered for free. Personal trainers are also available.
  • If you choose a combination package or the Royal Siam Experience, you can enjoy the luxury spa suite with a petal-filled bathtub ready for you to plunge into for a warm, herbal soak.
The Treatments
  • The luxury spa takes its cue from nature as its signature treatment, Seasonal Choice, is inspired by the four European seasons of the year, using products made from natural, plant-based ingredients that aim to restore the body’s natural equilibrium.
  • Services start with a soothing foot soak and scalp massage before you're given a seasonal-themed massage. Next up is your choice of a body scrub, body wrap or seasonal-themed facial.
  • For the ultimate indulgence, opt for the Royal Siam Experience, which begins with a full-body exfoliation using tropical fresh papaya and sea salt, followed by a Thai herbal bath, Oriental massage, and then finally a facial and soothing hot oil scalp massage.
  • There are plenty of other services to choose from, too: more traditional massages and the popular Thai massages, scrubs and wraps, manicures and pedicures, and a range of classic and advanced facials with hard-hitting age-defying ingredients.
The Facilities
  • Active types can hit up the eighth-floor 24-hour fitness center, which has a Jacuzzi, steam bath and sauna.
  • If you’re more inclined to relaxation, the resort-like garden and saltwater pools are ideal spots to while away a lazy day under the shade of overhanging trees.
  • Additional hotel spa perks include one of the city’s largest luxury shopping malls at its doorstep, an acclaimed Thai restaurant (the signature dinner tasting menu is an incredible 13-course-long meal) and a large Thai art collection that is a feast for the eyes with more than 4,000 paintings, sculptures, photographs, installations and antiques scattered throughout the building.
